Finally! People are talking about this show. I was marathoning it weeks ago. It was my favorite Looney Tunes series as a kid. Joe Alaskey was the Daffy Duck voice actor I grew up with, and they did a really great job implementing the Looney Tunes flare for a new Millennium. I forgot how short this series actually was, but it got 3 seasons and a theme that absolutely slapped by Tom Jones, who Dodgers also paid tribute to in the show, even dressed like him. The crossovers like Samurai Quack was also awesome. This show went wild in the best possible ways. Show much to enjoy about Duck Dodgers, one of them being that despite Dodgers being an arrogant, selfish, lazy goofball, he can actually be a pretty competent badass. He is even a master of the nunchaku.

the thing that makes doger miles above other 'dumber character spinoff' is that, while he's in-universe overhyped as a hero, in reality he's just below average, and will still try to rise to occasion when the chips are down, usually failing, but giving an opening for his teammates to save the day

I was a Boomerang kid, more so than any other kids cable channel. Subsequently Duck Dodgers was a huge influence on my childhood and I remember vividly experiencing the third season while it was still airing. It cemented Daffy as my favorite Looney Tunes character for eons (although the Looney Tunes Show usurped that slightly by making me adore Lola), and it inspired my love for animation as an art form and my desire to become a cartoonist as an adult. You gotta commend the staff at the time for experimenting with the Looney Tunes in the early 00s, proving they can work in different genres. Duck Dodgers, The Looney Tunes Show, and yes Loonatics, were all gems. For their so called “evergreen” IP, I wish they did more with them.

Ikr? Like, I love how WB was like "hey, you know these 50+year old cartoon characters that are traditionally used in comedic shorts? Let's do something, like, super deep and creative with them. Sci-fi, fantasy, procedural drama, aliens/basketball, DITL, Christmas spinoffs, let's just work with what we have and, well, do it!" Like, the people on the creative team in this era were literal geniuses. Unfortunately WB is becoming more self-aware and trying too hard to be the "Golden Age". The "Evergreen era" actually tried to be it's own thing while honouring the LT legacy, that's why it worked so well.

I loved this show as a kid. It turned me from a childhood of being a Bugs fan to a teenager being a Daffy fan. Fun fact: Duck Dodgers originally was intended to be a theatrical film from Warner Bros' feature animation division, and was pitched immediately after Iron Giant's production was completed. Spike Brandt & Tony Cervone (supervising directors for the TV show) and frequent Brad Bird collaborator Dean Wellins animated a trailer and showed it to WB. WB nixed the idea because they didn't feel the characters could "carry a feature film on their own". Production artwork and footage from that trailer appear in the opening credits of the TV show.

Duck Dodgers! There are 2 very memorable episodes of this series I can never forget - "Of Course You Know This Means War", two parts, where a disgraced Dodgers, a framed Cadet Porky, and a replaced Marvin the Martian move to stop a Martian Plot to invade Earth, and "The Fudd", an off putting episode where characters are inflicted with a virus called The Fudd where they simply give off a creepy laugh - where it culminates to an amazing cameo of Elmer Fudd. This was a nostalgic throwback. I was a highschooler at this time, watching TV just to shirk off homework, and seeing unique takes of characters from the classic Loony Toons were an amazing sight to see. Thanks for this, man! Some of my favorite Looney Tunes stuff ever. In a way, the series is like very high-quality fanfiction (don't knock fanfiction, for you'd be amazed at some of the stuff written). Even the guest voice actors were great to have on, with my favorite one - which may or may not be a surprise, as I was in high school during this time - being Lewis Black. A shame we won't get more shows quite like this one, ditto for it being as relatively short-lived as it was, but at least we got a good and good-quality show that still had a decent run. Highly recommend adding it to anyone's and everyone's library.
