Absolutely loved the way Wales challenged..this was a very good response.. I grew up in Auckland NewZealand and the College I went to while during our rugby games against oppossing schools we would challenge the supporters of the opppossing school in Haka.. it was fantastic.. Wales response has got to be one of the best challengers to the all black haka I've seen for a long time.. Good game wales.. Kiwi Fan..

I think the all balcks have always been a very entertaining team to watch, but i also think wales are a great team too.Whether it was an accident or on purose,it happens in rugby, both sides have done sly moves in the past. As for this i thought it was great,i remmeber how amazing it was watching it live,i dont think the wlesh players looked scared i think they did well as a stand off,i also think newzealand looked pretty mean in return and the tension that caused from the start was amazing

The video makes me proud to be Welsh. The Haka is traditionally a declaration of war, but the tribe performing it are never to back down by turning their backs on the opposition. No team in history has ever made New Zealand turn their backs first after performing a Haka...except Wales. I watched this...and by God...I was proud of my team standing their ground. Cymru am byth

@Msvilley03...sure, we lost this match, there's no denying that, but part of the Haka tradition is that New Zealand are never the first to turn their backs. The Haka is a challenge to the opposition, but it is a challenge that is only accepted by the opposite team walking away first. For New Zealand to walk away first (like in this case), it's as if they have backed down from their own challenge. Never has that happened before...and im proud Wales were the first team ever to make this happen

I'm well aware of that - my comment was more of a response to jimqu4537's question "Do you feel Wales were disrespectful of the haka" more than anything else. The haka is part and parcel of NZ rugby... most opposing supporters love to see it before the match, it'd be awful if it were scrapped.

@legendLilLew In NZ Wales are only regarded as mino's along side teams such as Fiji, Samoa, Scotland and Tonga which is why when ever they tour NZ, they only play in our smaller cities such as Dunedin and Hamilton which are only our fourth and fith largest instead of playing in our larger cities such as Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch because Wales are insignificant as far as we're concerned. Were'nt Wales beaten by Fiji in the world cup and strugled to beat Samoa just last year?

mjhansford has no idea of arrogance.. New Zealand have a proud + magnificent history, and Wales have had some golden eras too. Given that England have easily the most players in the world, 10 x more than Wales, and its historical treatment of Wales, joyful boasting to rub in English defeats is very different to English arrogance in wanting to leave the 5/6 nations when they were best, and the endless crowing and media coverage the rest of the UK had to endure when they won the world cup.

I played rugby through schoola dn for a couple of years after, outside centre & full back (even open side flanker to cover injuries a couple of times). ..it was pretty easy tbh...but went back to soccer - it's more technically demaning and the training keeps my fitness levels higher that rugby ever did. If the haka is allowed, opponents have the right to repsond as and how they wish. If resposnes aren't allowed then the haka shouldn't be allowed.

I couldn't agree more with cocolistic - if NZ want to do the Haka then why shouldn't the opposing team (especially when they're the home team, as Wales were in this game) be allowed to respond? As long as it's not offensive I can't see the problem. Personally I'd have loved to have seen the Wales burst into a rousing rendition of "Men of Harlech" a la Rorkes Drift (but then I'm a little bit biased!!)

The Welsh reaction respects the haka and the opposition; it was saying we won't be cowed, you mean business, well so do we. I'd much rather that than defeatism that undermines the traditions of 2 rugby loving nations. World rugby benefits from properly competitive Wales v New Zealand matches. I doubt Wales will end the long wait next month; would need to be at full strength, play at peak and maybe a slice of luck. Don't have the same power in depth, with a few key players out. Who knows?

that wasn't disrespect, it was a sort of counter challenge that's all. There are other and much worse ways to act if you want to disrespect the haka. Wales didn't lose for it, but cos NZ were better in the second half and were expected to win anyway. And no need for insults; it's not WW3
