I just learned an eclectus parrot is flying around my neighborhood. I'm going to try catching it, someone let it go on purpose.

it's more likely it escaped than intentionally let go, we shouldn't really assume the worst. hopefully it's found soon though!

Richie V. I think that's a rosella of some sort? There are several species of rosella and I don't know them well but you could probably find out online.

Something like this needs to be done for rescued birds. I’m sure there are some somewhere but there need to be more. And people need to stop buying parrots from pet stores (or any animal from pet stores for that matter).

most of these birds have been hand reared/pets, but the most important factor would be the size of the aviary, it's large enough for everyone to have their own space :)

There are a few things for constructing birdhouses: Give yourself plenty time. Use ready made boat templates. (I read about these and more from Aviary Magic Method website )

Yeah it is pretty sad... I was offered a job there to volunteer like 3-4 years ago but I declined because the birds aren't in very good condition. I hate to see them eating seed, whenever I used to visit I used to bring pellets and little treats like nuts and stuff because I felt bad for them (I had 2 birds at the time). Most of the birds are pretty friendly and are healthy but there are a few that I worry about and I would personally take home and look after myself and give them to someone who will love them and provide the right time and care for them. About 70-80% of them are rescues, most of the macaw however were bought by them and raised.

This is so cool! I'm just wondering how they get all the big birds to not bite or attack the smaller ones. All the species there are so beautiful!
@theblacksmith2545

pint-o-taffy because there not a hostile species that why there not attacking but with territorial things like the aviary it's maybe because they were all raised together

Australian winters are still warm enough to have a light jumper, so the birds are unaffected :)
