Dylan you are so good at playing that you'll never be out of work. You'll be able to fall back on teaching should you find yourself in a different line of work and lose your job. You should really explore working in music though, perhaps eventually producing. Obviously you know what you want out of life but trust me when i say that you have a career somewhere in the music industry. Good luck and ill be following along the way.

Tbf I haven’t tried in nearly two decades and I’ve been a musician my whole life now, maybe with a few practice runs I could actually nail it nowadays haha)

Knopfler is a genius, I think it’s kind of a shame that nobody really ever mentions him as the greatest guitarist of all time I mean, he should be in the conversation. He basically took what J.J. Cale and Eric Clapton had brilliantly started and added to it in my opinion.

I think that's the pedal steel guitar you're hearing when you think it turns country music sounding, but I'm pretty sure Knopfler added that instrument being played by Paul Franklin in the live version from 1992 "On Every Street" tour. I can't recall the studio recording ever including it, but I could be mistaken and that rarely happens...lol... That live '92 performance is probably my favourite version.
