I recently bought an Ascend 128x and have been on youtube for days finding ideas for kayaking. I think I found exactly the idea I needed. I ordered the pieces on Amazon and I'm going to get to work when they arrive. Thank you for posting this video.

WooooW!!! This setup is the bees knees. At first I was skipping through on what you built for raising the motor as I thought I wouldn’t need it. But then watching the end of the clip and how you can glide up to shore without the motor hitting anything, that was cool.

that's a solid and well built setup. One thing I saw you could do is put your anchor spool through the two seat legs with a cord going through the middle of a cord/bungee/paracord running between your driver side front and back seat legs. Now you just need boat lights so you can get out before the crack of dawn.

Here is a tip that will make cutting aluminium a breeze unsented bath soap bar, rub it along your cut line and blade a bit like waxing a surf board whitch works better but is harder to get off it will amaze you, the difference in cutting speed and finish works on grinding tools just apply onto the disc

I’ve gotten well over 100 hours so far of use with no issues as of yet. Going on my third year without having to change out or replace anything. I did add front and back navigation lights along with a bilge pump but other than that though everything has been working excellent.

Maybe add running lights for night fishing? Question: Why the H10 instead of the H12?
@gettingoutdoors256
3 жыл бұрын
I just rigged up lights bilge pump and skid plates in my last video for it. I chose the H10 over the H12 because It’s easier to load up into my truck and I really didn’t need something so long. Most canoes that are 12 feet long are designed for two people I found the H12 to be very slow and hard to steer as well so that’s why I went with this one over the H12.

@gettingoutdoors256

I appreciate that thank you. I was thinking about making them for sale but after purchasing the aluminum plate plus time and money for blades. It just wouldn’t be worth it unless I had a machine that could cut them out quickly.

I appreciate that thank you! After all the upgrades battery trolling motor and mounting plate wires etc it added about 75 pounds or so. This kayak though is rated up to 400 pounds so it still has over 100 pounds worth of carrion capability allowing me to pack enough gear for a multi day trip.

Nice job nice set up what (lbs) trust is you motor 55 ?
@gettingoutdoors256
2 жыл бұрын
The one in this video is the 55 pound thrust I also have the 35 pound thrust as well. With the 55 pound thrust you can turn corners and you have a lot more steering control and power it’s at least 3 miles an hour faster than a 35 pound thrust but you lose juice pretty quickly only getting about four hours on the water with a 35 pound thrust however I get about seven hours of constant use out of it before having to retreat back to the boat launch

The trolling motor I have in this video is the Newport Vessels Kayak Series 55 pound thrust but it’s heavy and eats up the battery like crazy! This year I went with the 36 pound thrust and it’s a little slower but you can fish all day instead of just a couple hours. I can get about 6 to 7 miles on the 36 pound thrust versus 2 to three miles on the 55 pound. However it does go a little faster and can handle river Currents a little better but I’m finding the Newport Vessels 36lb to be the better option.

@gettingoutdoors256

This one is a Newport vessels 45 pound thrust. However I just picked up the 36lbs thrust because I heard it’s much more efficient on battery life
What did you put between the bracket and the kayak
@gettingoutdoors256

It was a foam puzzle exercise mat ½ inch think. I used it to get the aluminum plate to sit evenly on the Kayak. And it definitely helped out a lot to reduce vibrations too
