Ljubljana
Hello world!
Today I will take you to a magical place. This is Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. So stay with me while I walk you around town.
First we will take a walk near the waters of the Ljubljanica river. We will see the Dragon bridge and we will climb on the top of a hill to visit the Ljubljana Castle.
Ljubljana is the first stop of our summer trip around Europe. And before we got here it was a bit rainy but the sun came up and only few pretty white clouds stayed making the skies very dramatic. It was at the end of July and the weather was great for walks. There are a lot of coffee shops and restaurants near the river. The food is really good and affordable. The trees and the grass were very green for this time of August. And if one doesn’t want to walk they can hop on one of the boats that tour the river.
Ljubljana is one of the smallest capitals in Europe with population of around 300 thousand people. Still it is a really nice place to visit. It has distinct European capital look but with some Bolkan twist that represent the very best part of the Bolkans. The whole country actually is dubbed the Switzerland of the Balkans. With lush green mountains and pretty landscapes it offers a lot to any type of visitor.
The Ljubljanica river passes trough the center of the capital. There are a lot of walking areas and bridges but if walking is not your thing you can hop on one of the tourist boats.
One of the attractions is the Dragon bridge that has 4 dragon statues guarding it. I think the dragon is the symbol of Ljubljana so you can see it on many souvenirs and places.
After we walked around town we decided to visit the Ljubljana castle. It sits on a top of a hill and there are few ways to get there. One is with something like an elevator/train thing that costs some euros and the other is by foot or car. We decided to use our feet because the elevator thing had like 100 people queue.
The walk up is pretty steep but shady so I liked the exercise. Only thing I had to endure is the complaining from my wife but once we got up it was pretty nice.
There is even a Michelin star restaurant and the castle is very nice with a lot of things to see. We were told that once it was a prison and there are still some cells that can be seen along with torture devices and all.
But I will stop talking now and will let you enjoy the views.
And if you want to venture outside of the capital there are a lot of nearby places that offer nice stay and are very attractive. One of them is Lake Bled that we visited for a day. It is around 50 km from Ljubljana and you can find my video on my channel or If I don’t forget I can link it here on the screen.
If you liked my video please give it a thumbs up and share it with friends. Also don’t forget to subscribe and check my other videos. Peace!
