My parents retired there. I grew up in Southsea. Now in Western Australia.

Such a shame what that high street has become. It used to be thriving. Council have been saying for years they will sort it. I remember the old Ritz cinema which was where the iceland and jobcentre are.

@RifleEyez it's been gradually dwindling for a while now, but the last 8 years it's been dead. There's still quite a few shops there, but they are all the same kind of discount shops, charity shops and a couple of cafes. The market is tiny compared to what I am sure you remember also now. I used to love popping into town, but now I don't sadly. I skip it and go to fareham or Gunwharf like yourself. The actual Ritz, must be about 30 years ago they got rid of that, maybe even more. They are talking about turning the old crown bingo in gosport into a cinema and a "community hub" but if it materilises, we will see.

Spent 16 years abroad but moved back to Gosport in the past year and It's such a shell of what it used to be. I live on the High Street at number 4 if you want some old man insights of where I grew up :)

Dez. You could do your viewers a massive service and hold your shots steadier and when panning, slow down to give the viewer a chance to absorb the image! Try it, You'll find the production much better.

Well that looks far different to how I remember the place. I lived there from 1954 to late '69. Nice to see some familiar landmarks are still left though, regarding the old Ritz mentioned elsewhere that brings back memories, pretty sure I can still remember it being built, a step up from the 'flea pit' Criterion on Forton rd.and I certainly remember the old path next to it leading down to the yachting club and the old rent a rowboat pond. I gather the old Connaught Drill Hall is also long gone? Many memories of club nights there with the Solent City Scooter Club during the '60's.

The Ritz stood as bombed in WW2 and was restored and re-opened by Kenneth Connor in 1986

I once applied for a job in this town and was excitingly ready to move there until I was rejected at the last minute. Looking back, I'm glad I was as where I work and live now is miles ahead, no offence Gosport people.

I agree about the panning. I had to turn off your Fareham vlog, and have just left Gosport because the constant panning gives me vertigo. Such a shame because I was interested to watch them. Sorry to whinge but it's better you know.
