Thank you! You've made me crying: it's my city, I haven't been there since 1995. You were just 2 blocks away from our building, but you've passed the school my mom, me and my daughter were attending. Too sad my parents are gone already and I cannot show them your video. All these streets I was walking with my mom or just wandering with my friends... Not everything I've seen made me happy though: ruins, cars on the sidewalks, drying grass where the flower beds used to be... And also, in the last part, were you're walking along the road, which is parallel to the sea port and the sea, of course. So, you can see the sea over there, it''s just not a recreational/ or the beach area. But the beaches are still in the city, just not in this particular area. Thanks again!

What impressed me most was how clean the streets in the eastern cities are (take a closer look). Some buildings (depends on where you are) may be desolate, but there is no garbage on the streets. Unlike Central Europe, where there are shiny buildings, waste and even food lies on the streets, on the sideways, simply everywhere. This is a reflection of the citizens of the East and the West.

An excellent "walking documentary". I wish there were more of these videos where people just film what they see as they walk or bike about the city, instead of the narrated "guided tours" you typically find on KZitem.

When I sing about a wide open space, About the sea, calling to foreign lands, About the gentle sea, about happiness and grief, I'm singing about you, Odessa is mine. I see everywhere your clear dawns, Odessa. With me everywhere is your sky and the sea, Odessa. And in my heart you are everywhere with me, Odessa, my native city! When I sing about love without limit, About people who can believe and wait, About bunches of fragrant acacia white, I hasten to give this song to you ...

kees, your collection of art is absolutely beautiful. incredible how gifted you are at capturing a place, people and time without disturbing it. the viewer feels as if it is their walk due to your subtle adjustment of frame reacting to the environment. Each time i think i've viewed your best one, i'm pleasantly surprised to find the next one is better, like this portrait of Odessa. While an earlier commenter disagreed with your route, i thought it was perfect. this looks like a beautiful city and people, optimistically waiting for their day to shine again. C Hazel

Odesa is a remarkably beautiful city with good people. Sure there is crime, organized and otherwise, but its a remarkable city . I was there in 1997 & again in '98. It is light- years better than Ternopil and Moldovan cities. Lviv has a dark charm, but Odesa is light, open, you can breathe there, and as a Floridian I see Odessa as a romantic place with a good future. Odessa has a great future. Warsaw was so much like Orlando, Fl- sprawling, booming, and friendly, but Odessa has mystic and charm. You feel different there. It is unlike where you have been. I married an Odessa girl in 97 and we are still together. We have diasagreements but we are committed to each other and pull together. Odessa times may be hard, but you are a great city with a great future. Make it happen. If you got an east style Disney there, you could jump start wealth. I felt safe walking the strees where I never would in Miami. My only fear was stepping in the missing manhole covers in the 90's.

I really enjoyed to walk with you in this city that I love. I am familiar with Odessa only by photos and videos (and Google Street). This city on the Black sea fascinates me as much as the people who live there. You will find it funny, but I would appreciate the name (if you want) of the first street to your walk, because I would very much like to remake his round with Google Street. One day, if I'm lucky, I should like to do as you, I want to say, walk quietly on these streets, saying only "Hello" (алло), or "Have a nice day" to passersby. Unfortunately, I do not know anyone and I did not speak the language. I am a guy from Quebec and I speak French and English fairly well. I would spend at least a month, because I love the way of life of these people. They are calm and quiet. It seems they he learned to live peacefully, softly, in the rhythm of the day. In the last year, I watch (on KZitem) several videos of a family of this city, and I learned to love their simplicity and how to live calmly. …………………………… In the video you decided (at a time) to stay in the streets and along the parked car, instead of taking the sidewalk - it was probably because of the repairs. There is this man (at 36:40) who was intoxicated, as in real life - it's also why your video is beautiful. This is because it shows us the reality of the day. After descending the stairs, we were in a street that seemed completely destroyed, as if a war had taken place. What is this area? You crossed a street with through the rolling of trafficking (while defying death), so when I saw you pass between the cars passing by, I told myself; This is certainly not an American or European tourist; because you would have expected the light of pedestrians. So I deduce that you must be Ukrainian (or close). In several places with the street market, through the circulation of the road, instead of walking on the sidewalk - it is very special this tendency to suicide among you? Yet sidewalks are just side and they are very broad and more. Especially with your hands in camera, this would double the danger. Several times I was really afraid for you. You like the danger¿ ………………………… PS: I think you passed the film in a program that corrects vibrations and shaking, because of the curious effect of the visual. I looked at everything all along the vidéo, and I really appreciated.

Watched in entirety and enjoyed taking this walk in Odessa. The first 45 minutes were very interesting and indeed fascinating. A lovely city, full of life. However I think your route for the final 15 minutes could have been a lot better. After the old, run-down and deserted part of Odessa you walked along a busy road with cars flying past but not much of interest to see. I kept hoping you'd reach an open vista with a view of the sea, but instead the video stopped after this quite uninteresting section. Excellent overall though, loved the video sound and visual quality and the lack of shudder. Great work. :+}
