I've recently returned from my first ever visit to Helsinki, and, apart from the city's astonishing beauty I find one thing quite amazing: the speed with which its layout imprints itself on memory. I spent three days there, and after walking 35 000 steps every day I find that I know, in many cases, what I'll see round the corner in your videos. It's even more astonishing given that the city center is not at all that compact. One of the beauties of Helsinki is its extremely convoluted and varied topography, all the rocks, nooks and crannies. What a wonderful city.

Helsinki is my beloved hometown, and with me basically being so used to it it's easy to forget all the lovely qualities this city has - that is until I read comments like yours haha. I've always wondered if tourists still enjoy it here even though Helsinki, compared to many European cities, is quite young (not to mention all the fires throughout its history having burnt down large parts of the city). The architecture and buildings you find here, although I love it, generally won't be hundreds of years old like it is in many central and southern European capitals. I've wondered if tourists might be disappointed, so I'm always a bit relieved to read some positive comments, thank you :)

@@tocraneandcrane Disappointed? Never. For architecture that's hundreds of years old I can go to Rome, Barcelona, Krakow, Prague. What I'm looking for is interesting space and good urbanism. To my mind central Helsinki is this extremely artistically tied knot that I loved to try and untangle. The way all the rocky outcrops make the city curve and bend in three dimensions - very unique. I'll be coming back for sure.
