Thank you for the explanation and demonstration of the step. Your explanations are very interesting to me. While listening to you, I thought about how one person's belief in the repetition of an expansion directed into infinity becomes the reality of the world for another person. When I, as Uke, encounter this force, it becomes involved in the changes in my movement, and I perceive it as something that exists.

Long power just exists, Chinese say first goes intention, than qi/ki flow and finally physical movement. I've been explaining intent part, but intent results in flow and flow results in a throw, so it's rather an intent than a belief because I also perceive long power as something absolutely concrete.

Looks like bagua "mud" stepping, almost. May've been the source of inspiration?

Despite outer similarity, the inner work of skiing step is vastly different if not say the opposite to mud stepping - with mud stepping we work out yang channels of legs while ski step we more emphasize yin channels and overall stretching to achieve long power. In bagua the power is relatively short, it's changing, e.g. rotating, in ski step there's no change but rather inner stretching. But still there's a reason for a similarity - an empty step which is the base for all the other steps. Empty step and prolonged step are present in many steps as a connecting glue making various different steps from different styles into a single system. Summarizing above - mud walking step is the essence of baguazhang inner work while ski step is the essence of yang taiji inner work in terms of the aspect of inner stretching and long power.

@@monkey_see_monkey_do Wow, thank you so much for making this distinction. Now you got me interested in going back and watching the rest of the video.

@@peace-c2r thank you, forms do not matter that much but inner work does. Forms only help to invoke certain kind of inner work, i.e like in Aikido kamae stance nicely invokes action meridian only by its form/structure. Forms are like keys from the inner mechanics.
