Nature Reserve Getå Ravine. This magical gem is located 1 mile northeast of Norrköping, Sweden. The hike is almost 3km and will please you with beautiful paths and also probably the best sound the forest has to offer. A pouring river!
The ravine was created through a fracture zone that over millions of years widened into a deep gorge.
The river, which flows into Bråviken, meanders through the gorge. Around the stream grows mainly old spruce forest, but in places there is also a large leafing in of deciduous trees. In the far south stand stately oaks and rough hazel bouquets that were part of the park that Robert Nobel, brother of Alfred Nobel, created in the 19th century. Old pine forest dominates the higher, leaner parts of the area.
The moist and rich environment favors slightly more unusual grove plants such as elderberry, snakeberry and gorse. From a thick blanket of moss rises a columnar hall of spruce in the upper parts of the gorge.
The trees that shade the stream make it a good spawning ground for the unusual fish species European river lamprey and sea trout. Those who are lucky may also catch sight of the colorful kingfisher bird.
Location:
For location, follow the signs on the E4 north of Norrköping towards Getå, take exit 125. Go about 5.5 km and turn left under the railway.
