I love your hat. My husband wore one like it when we were first married. He brought his back from Vietnam. It's called a boonie hat. He has had to replace it a few times. His wasn't camouflage but that is the only kind that we can find anymore. I enjoy your walks. This one brought back fond memories of my Grandma and Grandpa. They lived in a mobile home part-time. I particularly liked the red and white mobile home. My Grandma's favorite color was red. I know she would have liked it. I was thinking that she surprisingly didn't have flamingos in her yard. She loved things like that but apparently not flamingos. LOL. She always had what- nots and such everywhere. Her youngest son was the same. He always had so many funny signs and such in his yard. I have never been to a Trader Joes I need to find one and go. I did get out today for our Engagement Anniversary. We went to lunch. Stan is like Jim and doesn't enjoy walking much. My Granddaughter bought me a different cane and I feel much more stable with it. I want to get out walking more. I'm afraid to go by myself. I need to find a walking partner. Thank you for all of your posts. The perk me up. My Granddaughter is being tested for cancer and it sure has had me down. Bless you and Jim.

So glad your eyes are better. They are less red too. Good luck on eye surgery, I am sure you will do great. The weather here is slushy and below normal winter temperatures for us. Thank you, Steve!❤ I love seeing more of Palm Springs. I’m glad you mentioned that if you wait on cataract surgery, it might be more problematic. I was told last year that I needed cataract surgery, but the doctor said I needed the more expensive surgery which I can’t afford, so I have been putting it off. I’m thinking now that I’d better find a way to do it sooner rather than later!

Never knew about Queen's Attic lol. It sort of looked like the spot Daddy Warbucks was at? I didn't know there was an Oil Can's in PS/Cathedral City. However, when I moved to LA and lived in Hollywood, worked in Century City, 1980/81, I went to OCH's in Studio City way too much? Had two friends that worked there. Also Apache Territory just down the block. And yes, Studio and Circus, Blue Parrot, and even the Candy Store/Numbers. I moved to PS and PD in 1990/91 and use to go to a restaurant/bar called Red Raven and of course CC Construction. We must be around the same age. I lived in San Diego the longest of my 20 years in CA. Enjoy your channel!

Someone else said the same thing about Daddy Warbucks. I wonder if I’m mixing it up with workout areas. Now I have to do some more research. Thanks for sharing that. It’s such a small world, we were probably at some of the same bars at the same time. I just turned 70 a few months ago. I lived in West Hollywood in my 20s and 30s and it seems like just yesterday! And it seems like everyone from West Hollywood and San Francisco moved to Palm Springs which is awesome lol! thanks for sharing kb😎👍

I left CA/San Diego end of '99. Now retired, I sometimes wish I were back and constantly looking at real estate. It looks a lot different $$ then back then and when I was a realtor! Oh, Cataract surgery is wonderful, next day you can see like never before. But.....one eye ended up having a detached retina a year or so later. Not so much fun.@@theretiredlifewithsteve

Wow! Circus Disco! Some called it “Circus Circus” (because it was so good you had to say it twice, lol), but if you said “Circus” you just knew the place. I wonder if you came there in 1985/86. I guest DJ’ed there a few times during those years, and also at Florentine Gardens and Quiet Canyon. My DJ name was “Caprice”. In those days we had to cart around our own 12” vinyls to do our music set. I still have every one of my 12” singles in storage and I do have at least one or two of the “VIP” tickets from Circus too. Good (and crazy) times at Circus! Nice walk around. Gotta love Pink Flamingos!

Oh I love places like that lol. I wish they had named it "Tramp view."😂 I would totally live there. My partner and I have a 55 plus condo in Delray Beach Florida and we just put it up for sale because we want to cash in actually. After owning four single family homes over the last 30 years, we bought this condo 5 years ago and we have loved it and have had no 55 plus problems that you hear about. But again, it's pretty much paid for and we figure we'll just rent and live off our social security and have the extra money for more fun stuff that we'll use discreetly until we kick the bucket lol. We actually considered moving to Palm Springs but just figured it would be too big of a move, but I do love it there from what I see and have heard, and mostly would love to be closer to Los Angeles which I also do love, the area of which we lived when I was a kid a million years ago, and though I know it's changed a lot, we went there for vacation a couple years back and I still love it. Now I don't feel so bad about my mom's situation. They bought a mobile home in Redwood City, on the same street as Facebook, just over a mile from FB, right on the Bay. Their space fee is $949.00i in San Mateo county, just south of San Francisco. She does pay her water, garbage, and electricity/gas to them in her monthly payment. So usually the total is around $1400, give or take. Although she's at my house every weekday while my sister who lives with her is at work, she still absolutely has to leave the TV and heat on for her dog (mom is 89, and I think the dog is older than she is in dog years). I guess she has a better deal than I thought.

Hey Steve, I had the cataract in my left eye removed and replaced with one of those super duper lenses a week ago. I was nervous, worry is what I do best, the procedure was less than 5 min. The only thing I felt was a little pressure when it first started, no pain. I could see after the operation, although a bit like looking through fog. The next day, great vision. The worst thing is not getting it wet until I get the all clear from the Dr. The right eye is scheduled for this coming Tuesday. Highly recommended. My narrow angel drainage problem, no longer a problem or a threat to my vision.👍

Thanks for this video. I have a home in LA but am in PS frequently. A couple years back I seriously considered buying a mobile home in PS as a relatively inexpensive hang out. I was looking at single wides in the $30,000 range which would be manageable if I put maybe a third down. Unfortunately, what I didn't take into consideration was the space fee. You don't own the land you're on. Out in PS they want like $700 a month, just for the space. So, that sadly killed that idea. With the loan and everything, it would be probably around $1000 a month for a place I wouldn't even use year round. Bah!

The good news is, that many of the mobile home parks here in the desert you do on the land. The bad news is, the mobile homes in those parks are a lot more expensive. And prices have gone up so much in the past 10 years that most of those homes now are well over $100,000. Probably cheaper staying hotels if you don’t come to town that often lol! 😎👍🦩🦩🦩🦩

@@theretiredlifewithsteve Yeah I know, I do the hotel thing now, but I was just checking out the possibilities for a possible future winter home that wouldn't cost a fortune. Thanks for the info!

It's not just just your eyes that look so much better, you also had redness and "blotchiness" around then, maybe that allergy was far worse that you thought, because your entire face is looking so clear and absolutely no irritation at all. I've got a friend who absolutely loves the desert (they live up in Humboldt country) and they have land out by China Lake, CA, and she tells me that people think the desert is so bland and barren, but there is actually an amazing amount of flowing plants there, and her allergies always get worse in the desert.

Hi Derek, that is so true about the desert. It’s one of the most colorful places I’ve ever seen because of all the The flowers we get especially in the spring. It’s a blessing and a curse lol! and yes, I was allergic to one of the prescription eyedrops the doctor gave me. Once I stopped taking it The extreme redness and allergic reactions went away! 😄👍

Talking about PSP, not sure if they are using the FAA's new Next GEN ATC but that may change flight paths in/out of town. One reason why I rejected Rancho Mirage is the amount of air traffic overhead. The idea is to find an area of town without wind and air traffic directly overhead.

Those are the most sought after areas and most expensive too! I think that’s one of the main reasons South Palm Springs is so popular- it doesn’t have either. 😎👍

Good video, does it take long to edit your videos I have never tried editing Patrick in Ireland
@theretiredlifewithsteve
7 ай бұрын
Hi Patrick, some of my videos can take a day or two to edit. I’ve been editing videos now for KZitem for seven years so I’ve gotten pretty fast. But it still takes quite a few hours. Videos like this that are pretty chronological or may be a little bit faster. Sometimes I can edit them in a couple of hours. But then it takes an hour or two to make the thumb now image that you see before you click on the video and write the headline and all the text that goes with the video and then another hour or so to upload the video and rewatch it to make sure it uploaded correctly. So it usually takes half a day to a day to edit and upload these videos. Most people thinks it just takes a few minutes to edit these videos but they are much more difficult to do than they look. Thanks for asking. 😎👍

Hey Steve. We were at Trader Joe's this past Sunday morning and it was packed then as well. Are you using a ZV1 to shoot this video? If so, are you also using a wide angle adapter? Also, how are you keeping the footage so stable? I know there are a lot of questions but I have never been able to get footage I like out of my ZV1. If you're using it, maybe I can get some pointers. TIA.

Hi Phil, hopefully one of these days we’ll run into each other when we are out and about at Trader Joe’s or at the eye doctor lol! 😄 As for the cameras, for my walking videos I mostly film with my iPhone 12. It has built-in stabilization that is amazing. It’s so smooth that it looks like I’m using a gimbal, but I’m not. When I am in my car talking, or if I am talking with other people, especially groups of people in a room I use my ZV 1. The microphone on the ZV 1 , As I’m sure you know, is incredibly powerful. It’s 1 million times better than the microphone in the iPhone. But the iPhone is 1 million times better when it comes to the quality of the image. The iPhone has the built-in wide angle and just takes much better videos and photos than the ZV 1. So for most of my videos, I use both cameras. One for the image quality and one for the audio quality. If someone could just figure out a way to combine them, that would be a winning combination. Luckily they are both small and fit in my pockets, so it’s pretty easy to use both. I hope that helps and I look forward to your next video. 😎👍

Looks nice. Yelp is not kind to this property. Sounds like lots of transients wandering in from Palm Canyon. Management doesn’t do anything to take care of the property. The roads are in poor shape. Sad, it looks like a great location. Too bad it’s not maintained the way it should be.

Steve, if you are interested in LGBTQ history, may I suggest you visit the Stonewall National Museum, Archives, & Library in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Founded 50 years ago it is now one of the largest - if not the largest - LGBTQ museums in the country. Guess what???!!! I am the founder of that organization!!!!!! No kidding!!!!!!

How awesome Mr Butch! Thanks for letting us know about this and congratulations. I love gay history. How ironic that this would be in Florida, which seems to be one of the most anti-gay states in the country at the moment. 😩 If I ever take another road trip back east, Florida is at the top of my list to visit and now your museum is number one! 😊👍
