I wish we still lived this way. Instead of ravaging the indigenous people and erasing their culture and traditions, we should have learned their ways. I'm convinced people would have much better mental health and closer connections to themselves, those they love, and to the nature that's all around us. We were not designed to live in this modern hell hole.

Were I live, during an eclipse as the sun and moon combine, the animals in the forest get quieter until all sounds are silenced. you can close your eyes and not view the eclipse and know what is happening by the sounds of the forest. Once the eclipse starts to go the other way, slowly the forest comes back into life. it is a very beautiful experience to share with the forest.

Idk about the interviewer, but what my grandparents(who were med men and women) told us was to not to look at the eclipse, bc fr my personal experience it is a taboo, I had to get things fixed bc I looked at an elipse by mistake and eaten, so I had specific health issues bc of it, I had to fix them asap, and it was always either my mistakenly looking at the event(one time) and then years later I mistakenly had eaten during that time, so here in nm, we are told not to look at the event, above other things which wally mentions, I learned that the hard way. I come to realize nm navajo tradition and az navajo tradition, differ slightly. It's not about who's wrong or right, maybe it's just a different clan system, same goes for traditional songs, you can't say they sang it wrong , no, they are taught that way, within their own clan system. I hope the interviewer knows that.

Am from AZ, was taught "no viewing of the eclipse whatsoever may it be lunar or solar. Yes. I agree ceremony songs are different throughout the Navajo Nation regardless of State. I learned Clan differences attributes to the ceremonies. Another difference is the direction of the water flow in all areas of the Navajo Nation. Another reason is due to the terrain of the land, Mountain, Flat and in between. Songs and prayer selection differ depending on the patient well being and purpose for healing. Depends on the season, gender & age. I also learned some females are medicine woman. It's mostly a man's job to be a medicine man. The difference here is because a women bleeds. She bears a child and she has to protect her unborn child. So this falls unto a male lap.

Wally clarified a widely-held tribal superstition ...that "you're not supposed to look at the eclipse "as false.... my mother got mad at me in 2017 for viewing the eclipse and my local tribe temporarily shunned me.... yet, I've never been able to get any proof that watching the eclipse is bad even from Elders of other Nation . I find it hard to believe if this was a negative action this man wouldn't tell us because she's very particular to point out negative behavior. I'm playing Wally's video for my cousin's to show them this man who is Tankashvilli says it is fine to observe, with respect.....who are we to doubt him who speaks truth? ? Wally speaks the truth without paranoia. I'm very upset because these are superstitions not held by ancient Niimpu and actually based on white Juju misbelief... only adopted by new esoteric Niimpu...with the "help" of these esoteric new age hippies. thank you for clarifying ...Oyasin.🙏

I remember the eclipse a distance to go and position myself in the path of it so that I could observe it. I knew it was a special thing and it was the first one I have seen as an adult in my life. I knew that this was a great sign and that I should pay attention to that day and that moment and I even took a photograph of it as I watched it quietly happen. It was a strange feeling and although it may be slightly uneasy I respected the moment when this happened. I was by myself standing on the edge of a lake in a wilderness area in South Carolina. I was directly under the path of my totality so the sun was completely blacked out with the exception of the White crown around The dark moon. It was a breathtaking and special experience and strangely enough I did think about my past in the future and what was ahead. I didn’t realize it was a sign of rebirth but that makes sense. Resurrection, rebirth, a gateway event. A sign in the heavens. Given to us as a blessing by our creator to remind us to stop and take stock of our life and think about where we are going and what we are going to do. I’m glad I had the opportunity to see this and the people in North America will get the chance again in a couple of years. I hope they use the opportunity wisely. So much has happened since 2017 and we are living in dark times.

~3:10 "Those who watch over us" Very interesting. Parallels the bible* God watches over us and is symbolzed by a consuming fire. The moon is a symbol of the church, and Christians have no light of their own, they can only reflect light from the son. The stars are also called angels in the bible. One definition of angel is guardian-angel so "those who watch over you" fits so perfectly.
