Pound stores opened in the UK a couple of decades ago. With inflation, it is hard to find anything that works these days for a pound. You can also find products that cost 45p in Tesco's. A few of the better shops have introduced 2 and 3 pound areas, but by rounding the price, they are not necessarily cheaper.

@@englishatheart Us engineers have no problem with our scientific and mathematical terms, but when it comes to everyday English, we always manage to get something wrong. The rules can be a bit confusing, because I probably had my single local shop in mind, which is singular not plural. No wonder people from other countries have trouble learning English, which can also have regional variations. Here in London, we make our beds in the morning, while in other areas they dress them. We also make a cup of tea, while they wet it. Both or those examples are most obvious in Ireland.

What's easier is to put bacon on a paper towel that is on a plate and then cover the bacon with either a microwave splash lid or just with another paper towel. That's way cheaper and leaves no mess for the microwave and about 2-3 minutes for a 1,000 watt microwave for about 8 strips is just fine to make them fully crispy cooked and not burnt. So these gadgets i.m.o. aren't worth the money since they only do one thing and the bacon has to be folded over and it's obviously cooked in a folded over way.
@themustar601

Agreed. That’s all we ever do and it always comes out great with no splatter mess and less grease left on the bacon. Glass plate, paper towel, strips of bacon, cover with another paper towel, and our microwave is perfect at one minute per slice.

I don't cook bacon in the microwave any more, but the best method I found was just to lay your bacon out in a plate and cover, cook on high for about three minutes. If it cooks laying down, it fries in it's own fat. All these gadgets, or cooking on paper towels, separate the fat out. The reason bacon tastes better in the pan is because you're cooking it in hot fat. So just use a plate!

I have had the Ninja Chopper for about three years now, and love it. It works so quickly, it’s easy to clean, works well for hard items, as well as for blending up soft items, such as cream cheese, sweetened condensed milk, and lemon, to make a dessert. Mine came with my Ninja 5 In One Grill. The sandwich maker, while it made the bread a bit too flattened, it worked quickly, evenly toasted the bread, and the cheese was nicely melted. The most impressive thing about it was that you did not need to spread butter or even mayonnaise on the bread beforehand. Yet, the sandwich came out looking very appealing. The popcorn bowl was a hit for me…efficient and mess free. Those chopping boards are not worthwhile. I bought them once, and soon enough they started to get cracks, stained greatly, especially in the cut marks, and for chopping extra hard foods such as carrots, they were not the greatest. As compared to a decent wooden board, the food tended to roll around too much while chopping. The bacon cooking rack was a bit of a waste of money, I feel. It made a good mess, and took a bit too long to cook the bacon. It is easier to just lay bacon strips down on a piece of parchment paper, on a tray, and either cook it in the microwave or oven. To prevent added mess, cover the top with another piece of parchment paper. Also, I could see it being just another item taken up needed space in a cupboard. Your microwave is powerful, so I did expect it to cook a bit faster. It looks like your local Walmart is very well stocked with reasonably priced items to choose from. Thanks for reviewing these items. 😊

You always open the microwave door too soon, risking exposure to the microwaves. You’re supposed to wait at least s8x seconds for the beeps to stop before opening the door. I always double that and give it twelve seconds before opening it. It’s a safety issue that’s always in the instruction manual.

Really? Never heard this at all! We bought our first microwave back in 1978 and boy was it expensive - but it was fabulous and we still have it somewhere in storage😟😟. I’ve been using a microwave since 1978 and I’m not dead yet so I’m a bit “really?” about this microwave exposure thing you talked about!
@Jeni10
9 ай бұрын
@@sandybruce9092 i found this in a Quora article, however modern ovens may have higher safety features. The issue comes from microwaves still bouncing around inside the oven after it stops, until those waves are absorbed into the food. Hence this: “Should you wait for the microwave to stop beeping before opening? It's best to wait until the microwave has finished its cycle and any beeps have stopped before opening it to avoid any potential burns or exposure to radiation. “ Australia is very safety conscious so we opt for the highest standards. I just wish we had the UK style plugs, but then people might try to tweak things without understanding what it all means. We do, however, have on-off switches on both our powerpoint sockets and our appliances.

I'm thinking it was 5 years ago, my friends gave me those flexible cutting mats. Now, personally, I'm not into color coding and feel that a good wash in between uses is good enough to stop cross contamination, so I actually have 2 whole mats left. When I say whole, I actually cut the first 2 into 4 squares each. I live alone, and don't need a full sized cutting surface for most things. The first one lasted about a year and a half before it got too thin, wore out and cracked. I'm on the second one. They are fairly well marked up, but still completely usable. I'd recommend them in a heartbeat. I have a little electric, off brand chopper, that belonged to my mother. It's got to be 10+ years old. It doesn't hold as much as that Ninja, but it's just as quick and efficient. I've never tried it with nuts (I don't like nuts anyway), so not sure what it would do. It wasn't until this last year I thought to use it to chop up (more like pulverize) meat. It worked. I'm happy. BTW Happy New Year from Gayle in Oklahoma!

I had a sandwich thing like that growing up in the 90s. My favorite was a porkroll and cheese sandwich cooked in there

IMUSA has amazing products. It was created in Colombia in 1934 have used their various products almost my whole life. Really want to thank you for mentioning the Blenjet recall, my 11 yo bought one because he loved your review so much, but we hadn't heard about the recall. Maybe you should do a short video about it. You could help a lot of other people.

I have the Ecolution glass popcorn maker at $12.99 from Amazon. It works really well but with our MV at 3:35 we always seem to have a lot of unpopped kernels. I tried the silicon one for $16 and the oil scorched it bad the first time we used it. My coworker have been using one dry for months and they like it.

IMUSA is a Colombian company, I wouldn't call their products premium but decently good ones. BTW I would advice to avoid plastic cutting boards/matts because of microplastic particles ingestion, wood cutting boards are better.

A howl aisal of frying pan?! Wow. In England we have to shop around a lot to find what we are looking for. But we do have some big shops, unlike americans us English just tend to go food shopping in the bigger shops for food. Unless you include B&Q and IKEA. Argos is really beg here too, that's where we got a lot of home things like pans and appliances before Amazon. I love popcorn, here in the England we don't tend to make it ourselves in a pan on the cooker. Microwave popcorn is really popular here but then you have to keep oil, a big pan with a lid and salt or caramel and a bowl.

Hi - about that sandwich maker... what happens when the cheese leaks out, or something else gets on the cooking surface? I don't believe those $10.00 sandwich makers, or waffle irons, etc. have removable parts. Wiping clean doesn't always do the trick, and I wouldn't want to use it after it has been sitting around, and simply wiped-off.

We've had our Ninja chopper for about 7 years and it's still working well. We've used it for all sorts of things quite often. This is what started us on our Ninja journey. The sandwich maker reminds me of the SnackMaster from back in the day which makes me far too excited. You should do an old school product and review the original SnackMaster.
