Great work Joey. Your skill at sharpening a plane or chisel is unsurpassed. Those finishes deserve a medal for hand planing/chiseling efforts. Surprised me that you didn't drawbore the breadboard but you know the wood and environs. Great design.

Hi there! I really love your work! I absolutely dig your hand plane skills! But instead of a mortiser I am more of a slot milling guy. But that is only preference. More importantly you are not one of those DIY guys that doesn't know how to put different grain directions together and just do it the right way. More people should watch your videos. Regards, Etna.

I've never seen the use of clamps instead of draw-boring. I suppose the clamping pressure provides the equivalent of the 1/32" or so that you're supposed to shift when draw-boring? Great time saving tip!

If I may, what's the reason that you drill the dowel holes straight into the bread board ends, instead of off-setting the holes and drawing the ends tight with the dowels? Absolutely stunning take, by the way. Perfectly beautiful.

Nice table, Question though - When you are laying out the boards for the table top it seems like all importance when in to the visual of how the boards look, without . much attention paid to "alternating" the grain ( smile/frown/smile/frown/etc ) I was always told it was important to do this to prevent warping over the seasons. What are your thoughts? thx
@KingPostTimberWorks
4 жыл бұрын
Yes it is a factor, in my experience having breadboard ends mitigates that as it holds the table flat

Could someone help me out with a question that confuses me. I have made a table top (nothing as amazing as the one in the video) but it has a nice grain. I need a product to finish the top that will 'pop' the grain, but something that is also fairly hard wearing as it will be a coffee table used daily. Could anyone recommend a finish, in basic terms that a complete amateur will understand (me)? Many thanks.
