I am walther fan boy and daily carry is a PDP. If I decide to go further into competition I do believe I am going to try the new PDP steel frame.

Same here. My FFL is on the lookout for it for me. I'm really excited. I already have the PDP Fullsize with upgrades on it and it's a fantastic pistol. I absolutely love it.

The grip is phenomenal. The f series just melts into your hands. If I could do it over again I'd get that in the 3.5" over the 43x

I have one and the Holoson 507 Comp and love the accuracy. I changed out the spring with a factory aftermarket spring and run 147 grain ammo and it has smoothed out the recoil.

Try the DPM recoil reduction system. I installed mine with all of the lightest springs and the gun lost all of its bouncy recoil and is 100% reliable.

+1 for dpm. My glock 40 kicked like a mule on stock springs but is very manageable with dpm

Merry Christmas Tessah. There’s no such thing as “the perfect handgun” but Walther does make an awesome product. I’m planning to buy a PDP-F series in the 4.0 inch barrel soon.

I run the canik rival polymer in competition which is basically a clone of the Q5 with a full sized 18rd grip and you definitely can’t get a better striker fired pistol trigger than anything based on the walther P99 trigger action. It’s even better than some hammer fired guns

I have mixed feelings about the brand new PDP SF coming out. It looks kinda lame compared to the futuristic looking PPQ SF and it has plastic rear sights (CMON NOW!). It also costs like $1900 dollars which is just rediculous. I like the other features it brings to the table but the PPQ SF Q5 & Q4 are special. They were a breakthrough in guns. They made steel framed striker fired guns a big thing.

I have a CZ shadow 2 SAO With Monsoon Tactical Lucky 7’s porting and and optic cut and I installed a lighter recoil spring as the slide had less mass and needed it and omg it’s crazy how flat it shoots it’s the flattest shooting and most accurate 9mm I own I can run it so fast 😂

Can you review the clip and carry strap tac belly band holster? It has the ability to carry a iwb kydex holster inside it.

Walther makes good stuff. They're a brand you don't usually hear much about but that usually means there's good value for money to be had.

If you like the Q5 SF, try the PPQ Tac. Shorter slide with less reciprocating mass, better than the over weight block on the PDP. A more forgiving polymer frame. Threaded barrel gives more options and almost the same barrel length as a 5 inch. All of this with the same Walther quality and half the price.

Well said. I have heard so many people tell someone what the should get instead of having them go try whats best for them. Yes there are some guidelines, but not ever gun works well for every person. If they don't find what works best, than they waste money and don't enjoy the sport.

You have excellent taste in firearms been eyeing Q5 SF since early 2019 when it first came out...I was a big pot head for many years (MCT tinctures) which I always felt sketch. Yeah it's not a 2011 when it comes to recoil but it's a beauty.

So the Walther PDP Pro is my favorite in the series. The big difference in the three PDP lines is the triggers. I think that the Pro has the best trigger of the three. I have hit master in three USPSA divisions, if I was going to compete in carry optics again I would buy a Staccato P and remove the mag well and call it a day. And just to say it, the Walther is probably holding you back as well. You want a single action trigger like in a 2011 or a CZ, the striker fire pistols just don't compete which is why they are absent in the more competitive divisions.

2:46 this doesn't make any sense. The recoil spring weight cannot cause light strikes, only a striker spring could cause that.
@tessahbooth
9 ай бұрын
The best way I can explain it is with striker fired guns the recoil spring and the striker spring work in opposition to each other, and they have to be balanced. If the striker spring is able to over power the recoil spring it will pull the gun out of battery and cause failures to fire or light strikes.

Expensive hobby is expensive. I don't see anything about competitive shooting that contradicts that tautology except that there is simply expensive and then there is EVEN MORE expensive. If someone enjoys the activity and can afford it then that is great but even as a lifelong shooter, veteran, 2A activist, and EDC-er the competitive shooting sports aren't an activity that draws me personally at such a price point. Meh, I enjoy pickleball every bit as much and only spend a couple-three hundred dollars a year on simple gear and social game court fees. If I had to spend ~$0.25-0.50 every time my paddle made a loud POP. noise I might enjoy it a whole lot less. Then again, not everyone is poor and on a fixed income. Keep posting about your journey in competitive shooting and folks like us can enjoy it vicariously.
