I have been using the teardrop shaped Walther extended magazine release on my Q5 Match Steel Frame guns but was having some issues unintentionally dropping the magazine due to the size and distance it sticks out.
I figured out a modification to use a CZ Shadow 2 mag release button to give me a lower profile option that still got me the easy reach without breaking my grip I was looking for. A few weeks in and it looks like a winner. So in this video I show you how I did the modifications.
Parts used:
1 flat head (countersunk) M2.5x0.45x5mm Torx machine screw
1 nylon washer (size unknown) modified to tightly fit the button base as a spacer
1 CZ Shadow 2 style magazine release button. You can use either a factory CZ metal option or an aftermarket G10 offering from someone like LOK Grips.
The base of the Walther PPQ/Q-Series extended magazine release. Either the round or the teardrop one works, as the base is the same.
