I have one, I think it’s fantastic. I use it with a clean amp to add sparkle and a tiny bit of breakup to the tone. You’re meant to start with treble and bass at zero, and then just boost the treble slightly to where you like it, followed by the bass (if you want). A lot of people just don’t touch the bass knob at all, though. I also leave gain pretty far down, around 9-10 o clock. It isn’t a great pedal for high gain.

Same here. I have the tone between 9 and noon depending on the pickups being used. Bass it typically rolled off, unless I'mm using single coils. Great pedal for sure.

i think the thing to put into perspective is that this pedal is known to mimic a dumble amp sound. this pedal will sound a lot better when used in the blusy styles but it's definitely not for all rock style.

This is actually one of my favorite drives. It is hard to get a sound out of it especially by itself but I never use it on its own. In my personal opinion this thing really shines with a tube screamer or what I use with it is a prince of tone. Something about this thing stacked with another drive is magic if you got one give it a shot 🤘🏼

I am going to differ with some of the opinions on here. I had this on my board and when matched with the right amp it really shines as a low to medium gain drive. It's expensive though agreed, when I bought it over 6 years ago it was a good £60 cheaper. It's very easy to get terrible sounds from it. The secret is leave the bass off... When I changed rigs it never made it back on the board, it just did not work for me. I think it's better with a clean clean amp rather than a gritty clean that I play now. Ultimately it was sold.

It is not your typical overdrive. It is a scalpel not a knife created to tune in a dumble like experience to one's rig. A person has to know how to use the pedal properly to get the most out of it. Keep in mind, it might not be one's cup of tea, as it requires a bit if tweaking to set up properly. "Dumblesque" dynamics, tone etc. quality also might not be what one is after.

Also basically the only mode most people use with this pedal is the open mode with light gain, tone to taste and bass all the way off into and clean tube amp. Then it sounds amazing at making your clean tone sound perfect.

Hm ... not very convincing ... (;-) But i use the pedal at much much much lower gain setting. Setting it to smooth and low gain ... tailoring the tone & bass low too it does do a "magic smooth compression and just very little grit" to my Tele .... GREAT sound imho. Tried it with a Strat too and didn't like it (;-) So i didn't like it in this vid. too ....

I liked the tones. Even liked the riffs. The finger speed was impressive. But playing fast doesn't equal musicality. A some point, it just becomes a big blurry mess with no discernable notes. Subjective, but not my cup of tea. I prefer a classic rock/blues style.

Well I have the euphoria into the clean channel of a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe V3 and it sounds fantastic!!!the bass remains always off all the time…to me the pedal sounds really good by itself…and I also have the Morning glory V4 which cost the same(not cheaper)and it’s awesome too into a cleanish amp like a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe or a Deville. They are different circuits but both really good choices…same price…it all depends in which context you use The pedals and how you set up your amp…plus I don’t understand why you have so much hiss…mine is super quite….i think you need to check your connections…anyway I love your videos and your channel Elmo!!! 😎🙏🏻🔥🎸

i have one and like it for certain things. I'm not sure how to describe what I don't like about it but it changes my guitar tone to something to fake when i hit single notes, like to much concentrated fuzz. Like some kind of electronic overly transistor representation of my tone. It's actually made to start with the bass off and as you add bass it adds fuzz. As well the distortion when you hit a chord is odd sounding, also transistor like but the sound as the chord is sustaining and fading is nice. I do get some sounds out of it that I enjoy... so I still like what it does well and want to keep it. I think for me it shines with lower overdriven sounds. I like to use a few pedals to build overdrive stackings. ah ha ha..

"...KZitem might compress, I don't know..." It is to laugh. You are pleased to joke, yes? You become jocose and facetious, no? As for _this_ pedal, I'm not really diggin' it all that much. Although my amp tone is Marshall (or Marshall-adjacent) I usually go with medium or high-ish output humbuckers, so maybe your semi-single-coils aren't giving me a true picture of how it sounds, but this thing seems to switch between not enough effect on distortion/tone and too much, sliding from "subtle" right past my sweet spot of "raunchy" and straight on to splatty/fuzzy. Not my jam. Tone, especially overdriven tone is funny, though. I used to have a Keeley Time Machine Boost which, in front of my plexi reissue sounded *_so fucking cool._* In front of my Laney AOR, however, it sounded like unwashed ass. You gotta be careful... Good, useful review and cool video.

Why start with Tone and Bass on zero? That's not how anyone else would try out a pedal since most of them are set up to deliver their best at noon. It creates a poor first impression which can be hard for people to shake. If I wanted people to NOT like a pedal, I would do exactly what you did in this video.

@@Martin_Tudela_Orsi Well, then Brian is shooting himself in the foot. Who reads the manual when they get a pedal? You just plug it in and start tweaking. Edit: an Overdrive pedal that is. A MultiFX or complicated Delay like a Boss DD500...maybe...but probably not.
@Martin_Tudela_Orsi

@@Malediction99 If you read and use your ears you don't need anything else. In other words: if you put the Bass at 12 o'clock or more you will hear a lot of bass and you will think that the pedal is crap. Wampler uploaded a video about this on his youtube channel.

Tone is a treble boost, bass is a bass boost. Having them in zero is the neutral starting position. Also, I think you’re missing out by not reading the manual for your overdrives. I often learn a lot of useful stuff by reading the manual. Especially when you pay 200 for something.
