I agree, people need to understand that not every MCU entry has to have some major tie-in or build to a future movie or show. People forget that, one of the problems people have with the MCU is that some of fhe movies focus too much on building up a future story instead of trying to stay focused on their own. I'm glad that WandaVision, aside from building up Captain Marvel 2, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, and probably A&TW: Quantumania, told its own story.

@Booper Dooper Plus making a superhero show about people that are barely "super" Heroes good is way more requiring of good plots and good character developments. So it isnt surprising that based purely on how critically good a show is, Daredevil comes out on top. Id say it is way more challenging to make a Show like Daredevil enjoyable than a show like Wandavision, just based on the preset of one show being very serious in general and the other relatively comedic and more light hearted for the most part. There is a reason why more often than not for Superhero movies or just general more comedic spectacle based movies, there is a massive disconnect in the ratings between critics and Audiences. A movie that is at its core just not super well written or has no insane character development and so on isnt necessarily not enjoyable to watch.

The pre-Agatha section of the show was amazing - the intrigue, the mystery, the uniqueness. That doesn't answer the question at all. Hayward is an awful villain because not only are his motives incomprehensible, but he is also incomprehensible as a person. In the first episode he's in, he seems like he wants to do the right thing, but is just going about it the wrong way. Then, he goes from that, to unloading an entire clip at two ten year olds. @@likethemovies8991 they actually touch on his motivations in epsiode 6, but i guess i watched a different verison of the episode than other people. The reason that he's so out to get wanda and her family is because of the snap and the blip, he blames the heroes for not being able to stop thanos and save the world from an apocalypse, then he becomes even more dissapointed when he finds out those same heroes brought everyone back after the world had moved on, and everyone that was brought back didn't have to deal with the apocalypse for 5 years, and Wanda was one of those super heroes who failed to stop thanos who also didn't have to deal with the 5 year apocalypse. The sitcoms aren't supposed to be funny intentionally. They're just replicating the devices and kinds of situations that actual sitcoms use for humor. Like nobody is going to laugh at "My husband and his indestructible head!" and they know that. The show wants us to know that its fake and making the sitcoms actually funny would take away from that effect. Basically the sitcom parts aren't trying to be funny, they're trying to be authentic to the genre at the time, so saying that them not being funny is a downside is like saying what the show is trying to do in those parts (replicate sitcom tropes with the characters) is a downside. Edit: I should reclarify, I'm not saying you shouldn't find it funny, everybody has their own senses of humor! I'm just saying that they're not intending to be funny in the ways that movies and tv usually try to, the show is just emulating tropes. :)

I think the show would've been so much more compelling if they held off that episode that explained what's happening outside. Imagine if the first time we properly see the outside is in the halloween episode when Vision tries to leave. Then after that episode show the outside perspective and catch us up to speed. Plus, I really don't like Agnes and the whole witch plot. Or generic military man with evil vision. It just made the show feel less like it's about Wanda. The villain should've been Wanda's grief and actually revolve the story about her learning to overcome it. As we have it, the story ends up being a sorta dark phoenix knock off where she learns to control an increadible power while keeping away from bad government guys, dealing with her grief seems more like a side thing in the finale. It just felt like a huge missed opportunity.

I know, like were they just NOT supposed to explain what was going on, and then do...what, exactly? Then people would complain "oh they just left shit on the table, bad writing DING!" The mystery of the earlier episodes is fine, but you can't keep doing those same tricks forever, and I thought they paced things out well so it didn't get old. The balance of Wanda dealing with her issues vs. how they're trying to solve the problem she caused worked fine for me.

It was really cool to see her get powers and to see her way to cope with grief (basically the main theme of this show) is helping others no matter what. Those red herrings needed wrapping up before Agatha came along. It also plays the serious scenes straight. No quips. No hilarious banter seconds later. Just genuine tension and emotion and drama. It's still *funny* (especially characters like Agatha) but it doesn't interrupt the flow or tension of scenes. Stuff like Vision not quite getting human TV is a good example of humor that doesn't break up the scene. It's *so* refreshing to see Marvel make something without their biggest weakpoint.

Liked the show, but the Evan Peters thing was the worst thing Marvel has done in the canon... It can probably be easily retconned, but the joke wasn't funny. It comes off as almost a mean-spirited joke on people who were looking forward to that version of quicksilver being in the series. It genuinely feels like Kevin Fiege being petty towards the one thing that most(not all) people felt Fox's X-men beat him on, and like he's dancing on Fox's grave. I really hope they fix it down the road, but it was an unnecessary bait and switch that amounted to nothing and unlike things like the Mandarin twist,(which I liked) it really wasn't in service of the narrative, or even creative ambition. Also, would have liked to see what was motivating Heyward to be so cartoonishly evil, the idea of resentment towards superhumans intensifying after the blip would be interesting and raises the stakes for future films. But no... He's just a suit trying to get his hands on the next big weapon for... reasons... Would have also liked to see more actual specific magic shenanigans with Agatha and Wanda, but that's more just a nitpick. The show was good but makes you mad cause it had a real potential to be weird and great, like the Majora's mask of the MCU.
