Wanna Know Why The US Navy Ships Can't Be Beat? Look At This Picture
The US Navy's surface fleet has become dominated by the 68 Arleigh Burke-class destroyers that have been delivered to date. This multi-mission ship with exceptional capabilities is able to do a variety of tasks, including maintaining presence in peaceful times. The USS Michael Murphy (DDG-112), a destroyer of the sixty-second class, which was completed in October 2012, was intended to be the final member of the Arleigh Burke class. However, the Navy chose to continue with the DDG-51 class program in the wake of the proposed cancellation of the DDG 1000 Zumwalt class destroyer program. Don't be fooled by the name, however; these are very new and improved versions of the versatile destroyer.
