My fam took a 14 day Tahiti cruise on the Windsong. Which unfortunately sank years ago. But it was an absolutely stunning ship and the reason why I never take cruises with more than 1,000 occupants. These smaller lines are truly the hidden gym of travel.

Small ships are the way to go in our opinion. Thanks for watching ☺️

Gross tonnage and size doesn’t always mean spacious. And I’m always amazed at how spacious a small ship can be. Goes to show. A delightfully quaint experience that I’m sure also gets you to places in Alaska other ships can’t. I do like the idea of height and perspective options on bigger ships to Alaska (the “mid-sized” variety with wide open outer decks). My dream Alaskan cruise would be on Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth. I can only imagine what a small ship experience would garner.

You are right. We were very lucky to sail first on Holland America Eurodam then on Windstar so we experienced the glaciers from both perspectives, both equally as wonderful 😍

Looks like a perfect ship for Alaska as it can get places some bigger ships can not. I know you said that about Dumont(sp?) in the Caribbean two or three weeks ago.

Exactly why we like small ship cruising 👍

We were on Star Legend last year from Dublin to Lisbon. It was fabulous, still in touch with 8 people we sailed with.

Thank you. Sure you’re aware but no more Windstar Alaska cruises on the schedule for the foreseeable - but sure they’ll be back again soon 🤞

We love the bed near the French balcony....

I prefer to have the sitting area near the French balcony so I can sit and enjoy the view when not out and about. I'm not one to lie in bed while hanging around in the cabin. It's great that there is a choice so everyone can be happy! I'm happy to see that the bathrooms in both types are new. Nice looking shower!

Both have their advantages and both are lovely in their own way, but the ones with the bed near the window do have more ‘mod cons’ if that’s important to you. But we did really like the ones with the seating area near the window, especially if you’re somewhere with lots of scenic cruising, like Alaska 👍

I cruised Alaska last year onboard Discovery Princess, and one of my big dreams for the future is to do it on one of the much smaller ships. We couldn’t get to the glaciers on our cruise as the ice was too bad for such a large ship - the smaller boats and ships were still able to push through though!

We really enjoyed our Alaska cruise on HAL Eurodam and were really lucky with the weather but there is something special about being able to get up close and personal on these smaller ships 😍
