My Dad retired early on just dividends alone. He's my hero and I follow the same investment advice to pretty well only accumulate dividend stocks for the simple reason I've seen it work for 13 straight years now. Most others only talk about future plans that keep on getting delayed year after year and never seem to make it

What you think about pruning your dividend stocks like Apple and Microsoft for higher paying stocks. Would like to live off dividends and pass on some quality stocks. Instead of leaving the kids a bunch of higher yield stocks and taxes

I think it's certainly possible to build a hybrid portfolio of growth + dividends. It's just a matter of identifying and prioritizing the purposes your retirement assets need to serve. The actual portfolio construction is VERY individualized and unique party to party. As for the taxes and positioning the portfolio for heirs - don't forget your portfolio gets a "step up in basis" meaning if the portfolio is inherited by your kids they will receive a new cost basis on the portfolio which will effectively wipe out the unrealized gains meaning at the time of inheritance they will not have a tax liability if they were to liquidate the portfolio and completely change its construction... You should seek out professional financial advice on this matter before making any changes to your portfolio to make sure you feel fully comfortable with the interplay of the investment selection, tax concerns, and legacy concerns.

I can certainly relate to your points in this video. One year into retirement and I find myself spending less and less time thinking about market conditions since the dividend income just appears in the account waiting to be enjoyed each month, with little to no taxes. Thanks for the great video.
