Dr. Tom Singer and I recorded this conversation on March 15th 2022. In my opening intro I stated that, many wished the pandemic to be nothing more than a bad dream: a nightmare. The truth is that it is still a reality for most of the world's population as we speak! Likewise, many wish that the Russo-Ukrainian war is nothing more than a bad dream: a nightmare. We talked about "media voyeurism" and "media bulimia". I asked him “what is war?”, “is war masculine?”, “why is war turning normal person into a beast?”, and “what is the ultimate meaning of this war?” We investigated whether it is effective or not to psychopathologize Putin, and we looked at Putin's desire to bring together people of the same origin. We wondered what would Russia and Europe be like today if Gorbachev had been allowed to continue his work? We looked at war as reset. But reset of what? I asked him to help me understand the difference between this war and the crap perpetrated by the US since the end of WWII (Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc), as well as the actions of the British Crown (and the death they caused) in the past centuries. We looked at Jürgen Habermas´ and Jacques Derrida´ research on "what binds Europeans together" with respect to the international order and we parted claiming that Europe (since WWII and the fall of the Berlin wall) is a bout a shared a co-construction of meaning, and so should remain.
