Prof. Luigi Zoja and I recorded this conversation on May19th 2022.
Luigi and I talked about "media voyeurism", "media bulimia" and praranoia.
I asked him “what is war?”, “is war masculine?”, and “why is war turning normal person into a beast?”.
We looked at war as reset. But reset of what?
I asked Luigi to help me understand the difference between this war and the crap perpetrated by the US since the end of WWII (Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.), as well as the actions of the British Crown (and the death they caused) in the past centuries.
We looked at Jürgen Habermas´ and Jacques Derrida´ research on "what binds Europeans together" with respect to the international order and we parted claiming that Europe (since WWII and the fall of the Berlin wall) is about a shared a co-construction of meaning, and so should remain.
In the concluding remarks we looked at the fact that culture is the only possible reset to war, and that war - often - follows and is a reset for a society that turned to (or is blamed of) hedonistic drifting.
