You want to know how I know you have no idea what you're doing?
The origins of the fan techniques doesn't include slicing and dicing, because that is not it's purpose. It's original purpose is to be an extension of your arm, when open it's purpose is to distract and blind your opponent by constantly keeping in their face so they can't predict your moves, and that's when you close your fan and strike them with either it or another part of your body. What I'm seeing here looks like a performance practice and using odd techniques that I've never seen in any of the cultures that practice martial arts with a fan.

I have an Iron fan, I wouldn't really use two honestly, but then I'm sure some people can do it that way. Firstly, the canvas can be cloth, or you can use a fan with metal blades. The folded up fan itself is a blunt tool, used for striking. The unfolded fan is A remarkable defense tool, capable of catching an opponents blows and quickly redirecting them. You'd need to tie the canvas on or sew it tightly to the wood instead of glueing it, which would just tear off. I'm talking a fitted sheet double sided with proper stitching. If you watch to the end you actually see the drills for the more advanced form, tell me you wouldn't be scared shitless if half the time you couldn't even see your opponent to attack them and the other half is when he closes the fans to strike and injure you. It's more of a hit and run tactic that instills fear in an opponent so they are either a. aremore likely to just give up and run or b. they fuck up and you can strike them hard with the blunt end in either the temple, jugular, esopogas, sternam, etc and beat them the hell to shit.

Yall people realize that the tessen was a self defense weapon to be used as a lever not as an actual fan? It was more common for soldiers to have a solid tessen, while generals would have a folding tessen that would be used more ceremonially or used to give orders to soldiers NOT as a form of combat. That being said I dont recognize any of the form they are doing as anything more than a fun fan play, I dont have much knowledge into the art of tessenjitsu, but this looks more commercialized.

A black belt in something like this is laughable at best. It's the worst kind of McDojo I've ever seen.
