I didn't bother recording the first ten minutes of set-up as this was a trial & error play just to see if establishing the base up north from the start was feasible. Didn't expect to actually make it all the way, and realization only dawned on me that it was possible moments before smashing alt+WIN+r.
It was basically what I'd tried doing previously, except it worked for once. Basically just trust in towers on the south base, and concentrate most or all units on the larger goldmine. You'll need one robust squad each of melee and ranged because your enemies will be sending gryphon riders and rapidly leveled up paladins, often at the same time. What's good is that a lot of pressure is taken off your original southern base as they shift their attention to seizing your grander prize. The addition of Magi and ballistae complicate defense (you're going to have to write off a lot of towers) but it's manageable.
Teron Gorefiend need not ever engage in combat. Build him into a nice safe little cubbyhole and line the northern entrance to your southern base with guard towers so those overgrown pigeons and horsebound pests can't get through and ring him with that exorcism bell.
