Fantastic job ..BUT. There is something you must do. You have to put in a good speaker and have it play the sound of the WOPR. It will be the final piece of this awesome build. Great job.

Have you considered a youtube feed for like 10 hours so the rest of us can have the WOPR on a screen while we are playing with our IMSAI replicas with the War Game sim which has been developed ? In fact, the WOPR sound would not be bad as a sleep aid, like the many other YT sources such as rain, trains, howling wind, ocean sound etc.

Basically, I numbered all LEDs for each panel and grouped them to the different effects. Also each panel got its own code and was connected to a different pin. First, I started by defining the LEDs who are always red, yellow and off. Then added the blinking patterns of the red and yellow ones in addition to the single blinking effect of some LEDs, at the end I took care of the running light effect. As an example, I defined the side panel to have 102 LEDs and then typing down all the LEDs that should be red. Looking something like this: Generel tab: #define NUM_LEDS_SIDE 102 #define DATA_PIN_SIDE 5 CRGB side_panel[NUM_LEDS_SIDE]; For the side panel tab: void staticSidePanel () { int numRedLeds = 39; int redLeds[] = { 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 12, 16, 18, 21, 24, 26, 27, 33, 34, 37, 38, 43, 48, 50, 53, 54, 58, 59, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 70, 71, 75, 78, 81, 82, 86, 89, 94, 95, 100 }; for (int i = 0; i < numRedLeds; i++) { side_panel[redLeds[i]-1] = red; }

I dont have it anymore. It was build as a commission. But I also have a 6ft long X-Wing built with in the same technique. Cause I, gave the entire inside a good coat of an epoxy I have no issues so far. I only can spot one or two smaller cracks were two parts glued directly together with superglue and no overlapping piece. Cause I am having it still sitting in my living room, I guess this is cause of the temperature changes during the year, or the glue just cracked a little. On the other hand, the X-Wing already traveled multiple times internationally to various conventions.

Out of curiosity: why capacitors on the LEDs? Also: no current-limiting resistors? This whole thing is fantastic. I named my own PC "WOPR", but you clearly have the better claim to that name. :)

Just curious what the largest piece is to print, I don't want to resize it, it is perfect as it is, I am considering buying a 3D printer mainly to do this case, but can't just spend 2-3k on one so trying to find a good compromise even if it means more prep work before paint. So if you know what size the largest piece is I would appreciate that info, also if there is anything the 3D printer must have or be capable of for this job. I recently had one printed but it cost far too much for the finished product, but ill prep it and I will fit a Pi in to it. This is such an exciting project. Thank you for sharing it and providing the 3D printer data for the job. I will buy the plans once I secure a printer.

Hey, the 3D files is not cut, but the model in its entire size. I did this, so everyone can cut it to size to fit on their own 3D printer. If you buy the model, I can send you my own cuts that fir on a printer with a size of 22x20 cm. They are not perfect, but do the job.

@@RandomDesign Thank you,, I tell you what hours of watching 3D printer reviews and I still feel like I am at the begining, but I was looking for the biggest bed now I can look for sizes a bit smaller see whats around, low budget doesn't help but it appears there are quite a few cheap ones that do a very nice print. When I have one and buy the plans Ill get back in touch, thank you.

@@RandomDesign Hi Stefan, Well I have brought the 3D printer then sold it and brought an upgrade, now comfortable with the printing process and ready for this project, I brought the plans for it about a year ago and wondering now I am ready if you would still be kind enough to share the model with the main body cut as you printed yours. I brought the plans in November 2021 to be safe that I had them, but now ready and would really appreciate your cut version if you still don't mind. I wrote to you through your shop message system also if you want to reply there, thank you

A normal case would be out of proportion or if I tried to fit one in, it would be even bigger. An ITX system would work best here and should fit easily compered to the mATX I used.
