I think of it as... Rock Bold (Both Bold and Rocks sound heavy or strong) Scissors Steady (both start with S and it's good to hold your Scissors Steady) Paper Devious (paper covers rock and devious is under cover) I know it sounds funky and arbitrary but it is a way to integrate this concept and imagery into a system I have know as a kid = Rock Paper Scissors.

Hey Tom, I feel it helps out a lot, when trying to remember what beats what in term of Bold/Devious/Steady when thinking of an actual fight. Let's take a fistfight for example: When you try to rush at your opponent to hit him hard you make a BOLD move. If your opponent stays STEADY you get a chance to hit him this way, but if he is DEVIOUS he might trip you and you fall over. Against someone STEADY the DEVIOUS tripping-maneuver wont work, because he is not charging at you but rather waiting to evaluate the situation. So there you have it: the BOLD beat hard on the STEADY , the STEADY outmaneuver the DEVIOUS, and the DEVIOUS manage to stab the BOLD in the back ;)

Problem is that you can justify any ordering: f.e. the STEADY outlast the BOLD, the BOLD power through the DEVIOUS, and the DEVIOUS manage to stab the STEADY in the back. There is no obvious ordering between the three and the one the game chose is as good as any other.

Robbert-Jan merk Well, you're right of course. But here I think it is more about building a bridge for yourself to remember instantly, not even thinking about design choices or if it makes sense. If I think of a really simplified example scenario, like -BOLD makes a step forward to attack -DEVIOUS extends a leg to trip him, and -STEADY waits a second, so he is either hit by BOLD, or watches DEVIOUS strike his ridiculous tripping pose an seizes his chance ;) that really does it for me, and I never mixed those three up again.

I printed a 3' x 3' play mat and added the image ob bold, devious, steady it was easier for everyone this way.

The main problem with game is that from first round - all armies are far away from each other. When you move your unit? you can't make an attack after this. So you would not like to move your troops to opponent's range attack distance, because next turn - opponent will hit you. Same for your opponent. When first player moves troops to middle area out of range to any attacks, second player would not like to move troops closer because first player on 3rd turn will attack with range. And this loop will continue) And it is because after movement we can't make any actions... Please tell me if i do not understand something)

You mention various ranges, but I never heard how the target's range was determined. How do you know what range a unit you are attacking is in?

There's a range ruler thing, almost just like the one in the x-wing game. You can see it briefly at 4:12

Just curious how you think this game has held up over the past 4 years or so, esp since FF no longer has the WH license - I'm guessing it will go OOP and no more expansions :(

16:10 nah impact only happens when the disk stops moving, relentless makes it able to continue moving even if its overlapping other disks on the way, otherwise you could flip over, bk and over again to deal 6-9 dmg to the same unit.

Even though it's quite late... you are wrong here. As stated in the official rules errata, impact happens when pinning (overlapping) a disk and relentless enables a disk to move after the first time pinning. This makes it indeed possible to pin a disk once, dealing impact, flipping off that disk and pinning it again, dealing impact damage a second time. Only at that point a disk with relentless has to stop moving.
