The very word “Aquitaine” carries with it a noble, regal sound. The verbal descriptions of the geography of the land itself sounds wondrously comfortable, convenient, suitable to ease and comparitive relaxation. Vineyard country! Gorgeous pictorials of such lush, rural vibrancy. That nature is seemingly contrasted by the curiously, evidently custom of house and holdings abandonment. The irony of the ruling class using the emptied and collapsing architecture as literal, crumbling barrier defenses for their own homes is wryly amusing. The Dereliches are a regionally unique phenomenon. What connection do they have to the religion and source of power of the Lady of the Lake? Or the scourge of the Red Duke? What type of interactions have they with Grail Knights? Also countering this duchy's apparently natural serenity is the grizzled, hard practicality of its knights - I respect that chosen way of life and their results. All of these factors contradicting potential peace-like life coalesces, Warhammer-like, in the Bretonnians' reliability in battling each other, if no one else. Perhaps the relative calm of Aquitaine makes the nobility more easily bored and restless. The two towers, that of Sorcery and that of Lace, would certainly be worth detours for looks if one was travelling through. Has a duke's daughter been lashed for leaning? Of course, Tranquil Lake would be fine for a lakeside nap. I suppose I'd favour Aquitaine over other duchies of Bretonnia so far, at least for the relative less dangerous living. Feuding by local rulers would still keep me moving along. Thank you, Grail Knight Narrator for this latest in Bretonnia's multiple regions. Again, as a near-lifelong French-speaking anglophone, I think that your pronunciation of the French language sounds very authentic. Have a terrific end of your weekend, and may the blessings of Sigmar and the Lady be upon you.

As a french man, Bretonnia makes me laugh a bit. It's really a caricature, with tons of misconceptions about the medieval society (the life of the peasants in particular), but it's funny and heroic. I like it.
