The rosemary mint shampoo and conditioner damaged me and my daughter’s hair. The perimeter of our hair was breaking off and we experienced a lot of shedding when washing and brushing our hair. I couldn’t put my finger on it at first and thought it was the custard we were using from a different brand. I switched styling products but continued to experience the damage and shedding. One day, I came across V05 products which I remembered working well for my hair when I was a teen and decided to give them a try. I was floored when our hair was instantly more manageable, shiny, and soft. Now I’m seeing the videos on Mielle and it all makes so much sense. So we avoid relaxers for these reasons but “they” always find a way to get us when are guards are down. I used the oil almost daily and fairly liberally when taking down and retwisting. My ends look like the girl that has thinning. I haven’t been able yo understand why and now I do. I have been shedding a ton. We also need to consider that just because all the ingredients are the same, the new owners likely changed where they sourced the ingredients to save money as that’s what they do as soon as they take over. They also often change where they’re manufactured and how. All of these things can impact the quality, outcome of the products, and how the product works on your hair.

The first lady whose hair dreaded during her conditioning made me think of a time when I shampooed with Nexxus and used Paul Mitchell conditioner because I had run out of Nexxus conditioner. My waist length hair dreaded immediately when I applied the conditioner. I could feel it drawing up in my hands. I ended up with clumps of dreaded hair. The chemical mix between the two products caused a 6 hour fine tuned detangle session. I used 4 different oils and vaseline! It sounds like Mielle was working great until the new company changed the formula which caused an incompatible chemical reaction. It can be risky to use different brands of shampoo and conditioner within the same wash routine. I used the Mielle curl smoothie to twist my hair about 2 months ago and it dried out my hair and I had to cut 11 inches off last week. My hair is still fairly long. but it is still breaking off. I might need to cut the rest of it off and start over. This was my first and last time using Mielle. It took me 4 years to grow my hair to my waist.

I tried the Mielle rosemary deep conditioner last year around this time of year, just once was enough for me, my hair matted immediately and I experienced excessive shedding and even after I stopped using it for a few days, I would run my fingers thru and bunch of hair falling off my scalp. I threw that jar in the trash. My hair eventually grew back but I was devastated by the results after using Mielle. Stay away from that brand!!!! People really need to stop switching products so often. Use what works for you and stick to it. This is what I’ve been doing and my hair is growing healthy and long.

Anything mass produced has the propensity to be contaminated somewhere along the production line. The ingredients or the quantities of the ingredients can be changed which makes something once good now unstable. I agree with others who make their own conditioners. It may be time consuming but in the end it's also hair protecting, easier on your sanity too.

Why is Retinyl palmitate- derivative of Vitamin A included in this hair oil? It’s good to take internally if you are deficient and topically on the face to increase cell turnover but your scalp? Why would you want to increase shedding of the scalp?

So at the beginning of the year, I literally was having the same complaints to my family that my hair was coming out in clumps and I didn’t know why. I always had long thick hair. Even went to my doctor because I thought maybe it was a deficiency and my levels came back normal. Luckily in a desperate attempt to save my hair, I stopped using any products within my current hair routine at the time. Lo and behold, my hair has been returning to normal. Never once did I zero in on that hair oil being the possible problem… but when the lawsuit dropped, my eyes literally bucked, because that’s literally what I was using during the time of my hair loss💔

Very unfortunate. If the owner is sure of no formula change, her team needs to do a review of the certificate of analysis of each ingredient for the past few years. Sounds like at the very least the ingredient quality changed. At the most, the vendors or processing parameters changed.

Professional Esthetician Here 🙋🏽♀️.... retinol is a thinner that is used for the face and possibly the neck down. Retinol technically peels the skin, and in this case it peeled the keratin from the consumers hair. Also I'm from Chicago and the owner got some nerve to be a scamming professional nurse. Her and her husband should be ashamed. They planned to sell out apparently, but her products were just ehhhh before the sale...i knew her product was not great in 2018 when she had a skin line with the hair line. The skin line tore my skin up after using it like 3 to 4 times. I knew not to use the hair line for anything.

Thank you, as well as other channels who have shown compassion to the women and men who’ve shared their stories. I know most of y’all don’t have a vested interest in Mielle anyway, but it’s refreshing and reassuring when the victims are actually heard about their experiences. To be told by the company, “it’s all in your head”, blame it on people’s health (whether they have a diagnosed condition or not), and really not show any pity for the damage done to these folks’ crowns is crazy.

This makes so much sense. I just took out rope twists and I used Murray’s edge wax when installing to preserve the style, but when washing it out, I added some Mielle growth oil to try to soften my hair before washing and I let it sit. I noticed clumps were coming out during the wash. I blamed the edge wax. Now I know it must’ve been the Mielle. I hadn’t been using it long and it’s the only Mielle product I used. Hadn’t happened before. Throwing it out! Thanks for sharing!

The gag is… the rosemary mint line has been trash 😂. I used this line before she sold the company and it was not good. I used the deep conditioner specifically and noticed that my hair was so dry after deep conditioner. I discontinued use after one use. I couldn’t imagine using it over and over again knowing how horrible my hair felt with that one time. Thankfully, I didn’t experience any damage. I think the hype made people buy out of fear missing out, but that particular line has been trash. 🤷🏽♀️. I use the pomegranate and honey line without any issue.

The only one of Mielle products that I use is a small amouof Pomegranate leave-in. I haven't had any problems, however, I want be repurchasing. I formulate my own oils, grease and pomade. I'm going to research ingredients for leave-in conditioner. We have to be mindful of these companies, unfortunately most them are not owned by people with wool like hair.

Years ago I used the Babassu Oil & Mint Deep Conditioner and it was horrible for my hair! At the time people were saying it was good so I thought it was just me. The only thingthat probably saved me was that I put it in my hair in sections, unlike the woman in the first video. But it took WEEKS to get my hair back in order. It's like it made it feel super dry and the texture was off or something. I tried it twice same thing. So I threw it out. Because of that, I'm not surprised people are reporting issues.
