I was in town today at the time you were there and gutted to have missed you. I must say my home town looks quite decent in the sun. The population is more like 210 000 these days. The Alice in Wonderland link is that it's author, known as Lewis Carroll was born in a village just outside the town. The large patch of wasteland was the site of a large ugly office block that was demolished recently and is earmarked for high rise apartments for the "growing" population, shall we say.

The fleur-de-lis, also spelled fleur-de-lys, is a lily that is used as a decorative design or symbol. The fleur-de-lis has been used in the heraldry of numerous European nations, but is particularly associated with France, notably during its monarchical period.
@Herr_Flick_of_ze_Gestapo
Жыл бұрын
It is not a decorative design. The fleur de lis is a Christian symbol. It symbolizes the Virgin Mary. Just because french monarchs had fleur de lis in their heraldy doesnt mean it is particularly French. It is just as common in the British isles as England was and still is named Mary's dowry. Aswell as in many other countries.

It's also the design of the Prince of Wales, and those gates were originally built for Buckingham Palace, but apparently Queen Vic didn't want them because they were next to the statue of Cromwell, so a local businessman from Warrington bought them both - hence why they're in town. They say the fish are dying as the storm depleted oxygen in the waters, although normally a huge downpour of rain like that would oxygenate the waters. It sounds much better than admitting the water treatment facilities couldn't handle this amount of water in such a short space of time and having to release raw sewage into all nearby rivers and oceans, nothing depletes oxygen from water faster.

Was brought to your channel by TikTok and a tweet that infected my feed, and I've watched from today back to April in one day and am obsessed. Love your "content". Reminds me of the videos you can see of Victorian England, your stuff will probably be viewed in a century of how strange our times are. Love what you do. Appreciate how you keep up videos that even show you in a bad light. My only constructive advice is to just spend 5 or 10 secs acknowledging when you went to far or were wrong. You don't need to go full apology culture, just acknowledge when you feel you let yourself down with some of your interactions. But otherwise, generally a great job of documenting modern British city life. I'm many 10s of hours in and I can probably only mark about 5-10 mins of when you went slightly too far. I'm not one to criticise though, I'd have lost control before you did!
