Warwick is a rich farming area settled in and around 1850 farms and squatters arrived in the area and is now a town lying 130 kilometres south-west of Brisbane. It is the administrative centre of the region and fostered a strong agricultural industry for which Warwick and surrounding areas wealth came from, The Condamine River runs thought the town and supports other small towns and villages and farm areas. The 1870s were boom years for this new town. In 1871 the the railway line reached Warwick, a Brewery was built in 1873 you then know you have a town that is ready to parties in and ti was Warwick’s time, then a cooperative flour mill and brickworks were completed during 1874 Warwick is coming into its own, The locals back in the day, 29 November 1917,pegged eggs at prime Minister Billy Hughs during his campaign over conscription, local lads Patrick Michael Brosnan, possibly assisted by his brother Bartie Brosnan, PM Hughs demanded local police officer, Sergeant Kenny to arrest them and he refused.
In October is a good time in Warwick, with the Warwick Rodeo second biggest in Australia, Warwick Cup (Thoroughbred Horse Racing) (Warwick Turf Club at Allman Park Racecourse) Sandy Creek Hotel (international pig Racing) It can be hot in Warwick and it used to have 30 pubs in town and it still got a few left in Town about 6 all within walking distance in the Town and do not forget to go to the Sandy Creek Hotel and Killarney Hotel both not far out accommodation at Killarney Hotel and free camping at the Sandy Creek Hotel. And one other good thing came out of Warwick, Wayne Bennett the Rugby League player and coach was born and raised and played in Warwick
