He transferred in 60+ NEW players, that's a completely different team. That would be the equivalent of saying THIS years TCU team that went 5-7 is the same TCU team from LAST year that was in the National Championship, it isn't. Also, Northwestern went 1-11 last year as well and guess what? They're going to a bowl game this year with a 7-5 record. That's progress -- anyone saying anything other than "failure season" are being bias based on their love for Deion instead of keeping it real. I love Deion too, but this season was a COMPLETE FAILURE. Can't go from "Do you believe now?" after beating TCU to moving the goal post because they stunk the rest of the season. Its a learning process bro. From the sense of personal ambition and goal it was a failure and I have no question Deion will even admit that but from the outside looking in and realistically this year was absolutely a success. He is gonna have to learn too. Being humbled the way he and his sons were will only help him because of who Prime is. What they need to do now is retain the players and positions that did well and then build off of that. Nobody goes from rag to rich in 1 year and its now proven that transfer portal and high level recruits is not how you win on their own. You need a foundation, you need to develop team chemistry and you need to develop lesser players to become elite players. I can argue that Alabama was significantly less talented than Colorado but what does Nick Saban have. He has a foundation, team chemistry and he develops players to stay in contention. That does not happen in 1 year bro.
@whodatking26
9 ай бұрын
@@bryanmahoney3434Deion already ruined that process by completely dismantling the team. He could have found several good players from last years roster that could have been molded. He could have kept several young players from last year's team and took this entire season to mess the new recruits and transfers as one. That process you're talking about should have already happened when Deion came in. There's no excuse for being last in the conference again. So instead of improving to a .500 team and being bowl eligible and be in a better position to retain recruits, we are still at square one going into season number 2 in last place.
@bryanmahoney3434
9 ай бұрын
@@whodatking26 The team needed to be dismantled though. They were one of the worst teams of all time last year on any level and its within a new coaches right to put their stamp on the team. This is not Basketball where you can just stack talent and just win and even then teams like the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves are gonna put that to an end. It is a disappointment for sure they did not make a bowl game but it also was not a complete failure either. Deion Sanders completely underestimated the step up in competition like I mentioned and they do not have the 3 elements I mentioned. You have to temper the expectations from the outside looking in. They have a foundation now. Recruits are gonna commit and decommit. It happens all the time. Now it just means that more focus is gonna have to be put on team chemistry and player development which was lacking big time. Also the offensive play calling was atrocious. Glad Sean Lewis is gone because they did absolutely nothing to try and mask the weakness of the team. This is 1 year bro. If they go 4 and 8 again or worse next year then by all means destroy. This offseason he will not be able to just blow up the team again. He needs to retain the players and positions that did well and then build off of that. Get a better play caller that can identify and adjust to the weakness of the team while you try and develop players. I can argue that Colorados had more talent than anybody but you cant just stack it and expect to win at this level. You need a foundation, team chemistry and strong player development. Those 3 elements trumps talent.

The Odd couple fails to acknowledge they didn’t move from the bottom of the conference. It wasn’t about the win at TCU it was about them making an improvement on the season. 4 wins don’t matter, bottom of the conference matters. 4 wins would look different if 2 other teams in the conference had 1 and 2 wins. They let other bad teams in the conference beat up on them

It's a failure. Not a massive one mind you but a failure. They had the exact same conference record (1-8) as last year. Now if they started 1-8 and finished with a 3 game winning streak to get to 4-8 overall, then I wouldn't call it a failure because it looks like they are heading in the right direction but they did the opposite. It won't matter in the long run if they get to a bowl game next year even at just 6-6 because it would then be 2 straight years of improvement.

Pretty good, better record than last season, so improvement. The alarm bells are that his recruiting class for 2024 is not looking great at all. Not even in the top 60 of recruiting classes. Once his son leaves, is Deion going to be able to attract a top QB who wants to get his back broke too? He's got to recruit and coach up at least an average O-line, or else year 2 will be 4-8 again.

Deion was a great success at Colorado his first year there. Back when I was working in industry the best advice that was given to us new engineers was to make sure that you keep your boss happy. Deion generated for and contributed so much to Colorado University and the city of Boulder, Colorado that I am confident that his boss(es) are happy. It was a win-win for both sides. Therefore, there is no question that Deion was successful. Imagine if every college football coach could do for his university what Coach Deion Sanders did for CU. "Successful"? That would be an understatement.

The talking, the commercials, the celebs on the sideline, dj in the locker room. Instead of coming in hitting the recruiting trail hard and building a winning culture. Everybody loves to bring up Colorado’s 1-11 season, but the three seasons before that, they finished 5-7, 4-8, and 4-8. There’s nothing successful about Colorado’s season when he made the existing team leave in favor of his recruits when 99% of the team were guys he recruited to play there and they fared no better than a typical season for Colorado. The hero worship of Deion is embarrassing at this point.

For me it went as i expected outside of the Stanford loss. But i also thought they would lose to TCU. They have nice skilled players but his linemen on both sides aren't good at all. The only way he has a chance to get better is getting some beef on the line or it's probably gonna get worse. I hope he can get some guys but i just never felt like the location was an area he could draw elite players to come to. Everybody don't like playing in the cold and especially when you're not winning.
