The Leshan Giant Buddha is a well-known awe-inspiring site carved into the side of a mountain. It depicts Maitreya - the future Buddha. At 71 meters or 233 feet tall, this colossal sandstone statue is over 1,200-years-old and considered the largest stone Buddha in the world.

While researching, I found irregularities and inconsistencies pointing to the distinct possibility that this megalithic Buddha statue was repurposed from a much older site, possibly from prehistory time.
• Why has the Leshan Buddha significantly deteriorated unlike other older large-scale stone Buddha?
• Why is this particular Buddha always accumulating vegetation?
• Why does the Leshan Buddha look uniquely different from the other stone Buddha statues from the same era?
• Why are there advanced looking machine marks near this 1,200-year-old Buddha?
I don’t believe ancient workers would have purposely generated the immense labor needed to create a colossal-sized Buddha only to finish with unsatisfying craftsmanship. That seems counter-intuitive.
