I love washi F - only shot it in 120 but was blown away by the results!

If you load it in the dark, wouldn't you have to unload it in the dark and tape up the opening until processing? Which also means you cannot use a daylight tank such as a LabBox.

no that should be ok - it's the leader that sticks out of the film when it's unexposed that tends to be the problem. It 'pipes' the light inside the canister - like an optic cable! When you've exposed the film and wound it back inside the canister it should be ok - and then when ready to load onto a reel or similar for home developing I'd use a changing bag

Okay I also wonder if there's some light piping already from the exposed leader but you should still save frames if loaded in the dark.

@@AnalogueWonderland would you risk loading the exposed film onto a reel in a darkroom with a red safety light on? Theoretically that should be ok, but I’d be nervous.

Nice! Polypan f 50 is simular in that it also lacks the antihaltion layer and you get that bloom effect in the highlights! I just recently learned about light piping, this explains why some of the starting frames from some of my previous shot rolls has that burned in effect on them.

Just loaded my first roll of washi F this morning, can’t wait to try it out! I wonder who the original manufacturer of the film was. Or *when* it was manufactured for that matter, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was from a large cache of older stuff… Have you experimented with different developers for this film? It does appear to be a bit high grain for my tastes but I’m curious if there may be a way to somewhat reign that in.
