Great and fantastic explanation keep it up, I have got a question that ....what kind to motor is good for machine has to operate in low speed with arm(50cm) holding up 10kg of weight
@NoSkillsRequired
6 жыл бұрын
Mo Yahya Thanks I hope is useful. For a low speed you have to find a dedicated motor a synchronous motor like the one in microwave but that one is for 1.5kg all the best

The typical way to reduce motor speeds and increase their torque is through gearing. A low input:output ratio results in slower speeds, but higher torque.

No these are not good controllers for AC motors. These may work well for dimming lights and a fan but do not work well for a motor you are going to use under load. You are using SCR controller boards and at lower RPM, the power is greatly decreased making this practically useless for accurate speed adjustment. What is needed is feedback so the SCR can be trigged at different points of the sinewave to maintain accurate RPM at lower speeds.

Thanks for saving me the trouble with what I'm building. What controller would you use to keep the power up? thanks
@valveman12
Жыл бұрын
@@michaelculhane3058 Depends on the voltage and current draw. There are some that work on 120V and others at 220V. Next question... Are you running a brushed or brushless motor? Are you planning to use the same motor described in this video? Search the following "Connection of the washing machine motor, reverse and speed control" Stay away from SCR controllers like this one or you will lose power at slower speeds. I hope this helps.

Could I use a dimmer switch like that to make an 11 amp angle grinder into a variable speed grinder? (I live in the US so I have 120v mains... don't know if that makes a difference or I need another kind of switch) Thanks!
@NoSkillsRequired
6 жыл бұрын
The voltage does not matter basically if you live in us you have 120v the washing machine motor is designed for 120v operation.now you can use a light dimmer but i recommend a 400w one and you might not get the full power because this light dimmer can act as a current limiter so if your motor is rated for 530w and the dimmer is 400w you will not get the maximum power and probably damage the dimmer if used long period of time.all the best

If you use a dimmer switch, you only change the torque, and the speed will be constant. the reason it looks like it's working is that it struggles to spin. Try pressing on the pulley with something and you'll see.
@NoSkillsRequired
6 жыл бұрын
+VosDanner maybe you are right I am surprised that is working at all but the dimmer was 400w rated and the motor 500w so it might work but the dedicated voltage control one works best

Do you have any videos on wiring these motors on all three phases (a/c)? I do appliance repair and I want to make a a cord to power these up as a troubleshooting process (but not took familiar...still learning about these motors). If not, could you tell me how? (I want to connect all three phases to ensure the motor is working properly for the client...unless that does not matter...still learning lol)

Shaun Gutierrez hi there buddy în the washing machines there are different types of motors universal motor like the one in my videos, induction motors, and series wond motor or similar, check my video washing machine motor on battery and you can make a tester powered from 12v

Making a go-card u would be better off using a permanent magnet motor like a treadmill motor. I have a lathe and a mill both powered by these motors. If u do try ur motor use the old tram system parallel to stort off and series once u get up to speed. Good Luck.
