Just bought a centrifuge out of China. It spins at 2800 rpm and has a 19 1/2" bowl. This produces 4350 g's. The unit weighs around 400 pounds. Total with shipping to the port of Seattle and delivery to Yakima was $1490.

Great job! Thanks for showing so much detail... On "Not so grand garage" he put a "P" trap at the clean oil discharge from the centrifuge and he stopped the water vapor from getting into his clean oil tank - That looks like a good idea.... I just bought the same machine but with the heater,,, I am not as brave as you are, I am not going to pump gasoline....

@@worthshop finding good pumps for moving oil can be a pain. For filling vehicles, I've been using a def transfer pump I got for dirt cheap and it's been great. For moving oils between drums and stages, I've been using modified big block Chevy oil pumps. They work well enough. Keep at it

You can replace that section of white PEX with clear vinyl. Just use hose clamps on the end. about. In your application, the clear vinyl will have a service life of at least a year or more before it starts to get brittle enough to need to worry about.

I did a couple plumbing changes after this video. Drilled a hole in top of the top barrel to fill into, switched a few pieces to vinyl tubing for better visibility. This was my first shake down run of the system, and a learning experience. Have not produced a follow up video yet, but will eventually.

i use an old (1970s - 80s?) ford power steering pump w/an old 1/2 hp washing machine motor to lift wmo 8 feet (would probably pump a lot higher) . the pump had an internal screen/filter which i had to remove before it worked . i gravity feed the pump thru a hose fastened to the dipstick tube . very quiet . at very low rpm (200 very roughly estimated) it pumps around 2 gallons per minute from a hose fastened in the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket , which is located about 6 inches above the pump (would probably pump faster from a larger or higher container , as weight of oil would create pressure coming into pump) . don't know if it would work as a suction pump , but would require priming if it did . you might need to turn your raw oil feed drum on its side , or cut a hole near bottom and install a bulkhead fitting , and raise it slightly above the pump , to gravity feed it .

Looks good, I like the pex ball valves but I wonder if I wouldn't uses some 3 port diverter ball valves just so a valve can't be forgotten and blow something apart or make a mess.
@worthshop
2 жыл бұрын
That is a good idea. 3 way valves for pex are harder to find and a bit more expensive is why I went the way I did though. I could be wrong, but I do not think the pumps I currently have are capable of enough pressure to damage my pex lines. We will see. Thanks for watching.

How do like that pump. I have the same one but it doesn't work very well. Okay I continued watching and yeah I think you realized also those pumps suck. I'm doing the same thing but my system is a lot simpler. You should look into buying wvo designs oil heater. It will eliminate a lot of your plumbing and valves and just simplify your system
@worthshop

I might have gotten a bit too involved with my setup. I tend to over think things at times. I didn't like the wvo designs heater price tag, but it would simplify the whole set up. The pumps are kinda garbage, expensive lesson learned. Thanks for watching.

@@worthshop I'm trying to find a good pump solution. I'm at a point where I'm willing to spend the cash on one but there are so many I don't know what would be best. I don't want to spend more than I need to but I also want something that works 100% of the time I really only need to move 5 gpm. Something portable with a drop down intake and a suction screen would be best

Just getting into this. I have an unlimited supply of used motor oil and tranny fluid. It looks like you live in eastern washington. I'm in Yakima. I know some people add gas to thin out their black oil. Could you add this mix into the centrifuge in place of heating the oil to thin it out?

We are just a couple hours away from eachother. I have seem some people add gas before the centrifuge, some after. So it is kinda up to you and what you want to do. I do not think any of this is an exact science, or has any definitive right or wrong way to do it. Thanks for watching.
