I take my test next week (just a Nevada waste water grade 1), I’ve watched all the videos. Got like 95% right. Missed a few about polymer and the seeded bod questions and what not. I can assure you I’ve learned more from KZitem videos/on the job training, then I have the Ken Kerri waste water books haha. For me I’m more of a hands on/visual learner. The ken kerri books are just such dry reading for myself. Awesome job man. These videos kick ass.

Wow, what a comparison! That is a huge compliment, thank you! 🙏 The Sacramento textbooks (Ken Kerri) are great. I use them as a reference but I agree with you, it can be tough trying to learn from them. I make these videos for people like you. My main focus is to make wastewater content that is easily digestible and straight to the point for operators wanting to learn more. Good luck on your exam, let me know if you pass. Always interested in what kind of questions people are seeing on their exam so I can better tailor future content.

Thanks for these videos, best I've found so far. Preparing for class 3 in Ohio. Working at a small class 3 facility with extended aeration and just aerobic digestion the explanations of different treatment units and how they operate really helps. Also the math formulas you refer to are those from the ABC test/3rd part? In Ohio ABC test are different then the Ohio EPA writen test, which they quit providing so only option is ABC now. Thanks again hope to see more.

Extended aeration and aerobic digestion, sounds like a pretty neat plant. It's so important to have well rounded knowledge when it comes to these exams, which is something I think my exam does a good job of touching on. There is always more to know about all the different processes though. Your studying should go beyond my videos, but I believe this is a good guide to some of the major concepts you will see on a exam. I am from New York, so that is what the formula sheet is based off of. I just check out the Ohio one and it is VERY similar (NY seems to have more on it). All the standard formulas you would expect to see are on the Ohio ABC formula sheet as well. So it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for watching and Goodluck!

Thank you! Glad you appreciate the format and for finding these videos helpful. Comments like this really keep my enthusiasm going. To answer your question, this test isn't specific to any state or class of exam. These questions are meant to cover a wide range of topics that you should be aware of and know for any wastewater exam. There is no way of knowing exactly what will be on any exam for any specific state but no matter where you take your exam, these concepts will be there to some extent. Of course not all these questions will be on your exam, but I can guarantee some will look similar. Some questions may be more difficult than ones that are on your exam, which is great. If you can answer difficult questions, simpler questions should be easy. Goodluck!

I would suggest indicating which exam "grade" level your content relates to.
@worldofwastewater
Жыл бұрын
I appreciate the suggestion. This test is meant to be for everyone. This test goes over a range of topics that an operator will likely need to understand no matter what "grade" test they take or where they take it. I always say, if you end up studying harder questions than you may be required to answer on a exam it will make taking the exam much easier. Secondly, because there are differences in what "grades" can mean in each state, it's hard for me to do that (I'd have to list 50 different states). In some states a "4" license can mean the easiest test and might mean most difficult exam in others. Let me say again, I appreciate the suggestion. Goodluck on your exam and hope you find these videos helpful.

Could you add the formulas and conversion factors and all that good stuff to the exam document?
@worldofwastewater
2 ай бұрын
I do do that because it wouldn't be helpful for actually practicing for the real exam. You are given a sheet with formulas and conversions when taking a wastewater exam in America (and I'm fairly certain in all of Canada and probably the rest of the world). With that said, I encourage you to use the formula and conversion packet that will be given to you when taking the test in your state. This can usually be found online where you sign up to take an exam, or ask a fellow operator colleague. Thanks for watching!

@worldofwastewater

Having zero BOD in the effluent is something to be proud of, nice job! I wouldn't call question 3 wrong, as it is in regards to the testing of BOD in actual samples whereas the blanks are part of the QA/QC measures that are in place to prove reliable and accurate testing. Nonetheless, you do bring up a good point that should be known. Which is, BOD blanks should not have a depletion greater than 0.2 mg/L, which would indicate no contamination of the dilution water. Thanks for sharing. =)

These videos are great for any level, however they lean to the more advance levels for most exams I would say. But if you learn these, the lower level exams should be easier. I have used the WEF and Sacramento State textbooks a little while studying. Honestly finding practice tests online and completing as many multiple choice questions as you can is the best way to prepare for the exam (in my honest opinion). Read up on the stuff you are less familiar with or don’t have at your plant. For example my plant didn’t have a digester, so I studied PowerPoints that I found online that explained them. Goodluck and thanks for watching! :)

I understand where you are coming from and to a certain extent choice A is sorta correct but it isn't the best choice. I will admit I would probably change that choice so the answer is more clearer if I could go back. With that said a sludge blanket isn't specific to only primary clarifiers. The question is asking what is a sludge blanket in general. Choice A is an example of a sludge blanket, but not the definition of one. Great question, thanks for watching!

Hi, this is a difficult question to answer. In the USA it will depend on what state you are in. If you are looking to be an engineer, you probably wont need a wastewater operator license. However if you are looking to get your wastewater certification you will need to take several wastewater courses (depends what state you are in). Usually there are online versions of some of the courses. You will also need to have time worked at a treatment plant as an operator trainee. Hope this helps and goodluck.
