This looked so easy. They had a bit of a harder time with my extractions, the longest took 1,5 hours. It wasn't painful, just that my wisdom teeth really really refused to budge, so they had to work on each a long time. Today was the last removal, and I'm glad it's over and done with. Never again will I have to go through this with the wisdom teeth, happy to say. And now that it's over, I'm finally brave enough to look at how it actually looks like from a dentist's perspective. Thank you so much for this video.

I've been dealing with an infected wisdom tooth for 2 months now and I've inflamed it by daring to eat nuts the other day. Ahhhh, how cathartic it was to watch this video. If my tooth keeps swelling upwards, I might be able to pull it out myself. Side note: I've had multiple issues with tooth infections over many years and I've found raw garlic to be an effective natural antibiotic. Chop 1 medium sized garlic clove into pill sized pieces and swallow them with plenty of water. Do this twice a day for at least a couple of weeks. You'll feel a reduction of swelling within a couple days, maybe longer depending on severity, how often you irritate it, and the location of the infection. But relief *will* come. * you can chew raw garlic as well, if you don't mind, of course

Eat a peanut, hear a snap and have massive pain from a broken jaw? We were taught anything impacted, should be removed, the younger the patient, the better, 17 - 19 being a perfect age, the bone is not to hard yet, you would NOT want to do this in your 40s+ years, but... that cyst would be rare but potentially quite dangerous!

That bone is the consistency of a "tire" so you cannot push too hard, but you have to play tug of war sort of. Some oral surgeons go right in tooth, depending on how the tooth is positioned, if the straight up, they can drill an " + "right through it and pull straight up, but rarely is an impacted 3rd molar straight up. I've seen them laying parallel IN the bone depending on where it is, it it is tooth #1, #16, #17 or #32.. If parallel it's either above or below the root tips of other teeth, that, us a grueling surgery, although I've seen it done, when I'd call the patient that night or the next morning to see how they are feeling, as often as not, after ALL THAT they felt fine.... I had mine (wisdom teeth) out when I was 18, had never worked in the dental field before, I got 2 dry sockets, amd my lower jaw was bruised down onto my neck for - a month or more.. So much swelling, the bruises turned from almost black, to purple, then to a pale yellow.. I am glad I had no idea why they were like that, I never had TMJ until after having those removed, my #17 (lower left) aches to this day, and I am in my 60's, and had orthodontics after the "wisdom teeth" removed... We had different names for instruments as well... Many people, in a regular dental office get freaked out from tje word "Carter", one dentist I worked for had some cutsie name for it, the shaper" I think it was... When you're hiring, please let me know, I will gladly trplocate,!! I could set up, take down, sterilize, do films, set them, all whileanswering the phone, balancing the books, and stilll vacuum the and mount the X-raus office before we lock the door. :) I do 4 handed dentistry passing with perfection so nobody ever sees a needle..

i'm so scared the numbing would fade and i'd be in so much pain, that's why i hope i don't have to get them removed in the future

It would fade slowly. So if you feel anything, it will be way less painful then without.

What would you do for someone who’s 23 years old almost 7 months pregnant and had 5 wisdom teeth that need to come out? Upper left has two on each other causing infection between them and in the cheek, upper right side has a cavity, the two bottom teeth are causing their roots to wrap around the jaw

For such a procedure, it would be best to do after your pregnancy. Usually the 2nd trimester is best for dental procedures but since you have infection it’s best after

I am having all 4 wisdom teeth pulled this morning. I'm a bit nervous but I'm just ready for the pain from my right upper to be over with

Updated 5 hours later: Everything went somewhat smoothly. The first set of numbing injection did not work, I felt the dentist trying to pull my tooth 😫 she had to give me another injection near each wisdom tooth. Since all of my wisdom teeth were fully erupted the dentist was able to pull all 4 teeth out in under 5 minutes. It was a painless procedure and I'm glad I got it done since I was having alot of pain from the 4 teeth.

How common is it to be awake for your wisdom tooth removal, really considering it for mine!

Hi there! Great question. For a patient with impacted teeth and multiple extractions, it is uncommon to be awake because it isn't fun for anyone involved. Patients or dentists. It is unlikely a dentist would do this for you unless you had an allergy to anesthesia. If just doing 1 tooth like the patient in this video, it is much easier to tolerate being awake!

Can teeth surgery be bad enough that you would have to stay in hospital for a day or two or no? I have basically all my baby molars in my mouth and they are kind of compacted and the state is paying for my treatment plus braces....

Does it suppose to hurt or feel pressure???

If you are awake for your procedure, you will feel a lot of pressure but no pain. And that is totally normal! The pain typically only comes afterward and usually your dentist will advise you on how to manage it.
