I had bacterial meningitis when i was young. As I've gotten older, i realize how lucky i was to recover from it. My prayers go out to you.

Wow. I cannot even IMAGINE the rage and I'm sorry, but flat out HATE, I would feel for the surgeon who made the mistake that left me paralyzed. I do understand that doctors, surgeons, and nurses are all human beings, and human beings make mistakes, sometimes extremely detrimental ones. But this type of mistake literally results in a person's life being changed forever, and NOT in a positive way. I hope Emily is doing well, she will definitely be in my prayers after seeing her story. She is an amazingly strong and intelligent young woman, and I hope and pray that she is able to live her life to the fullest. Life truly can change in an instant... A millisecond... The blink of an eye, and your world can be turned upside down and inside out. Life as you know it is over, and you have to start from scratch. I try to appreciate each day that I get in which I am healthy and feeling good, and my son is healthy and happy. It is SO easy to get lost in daily stress, financial struggles, problems with families and relationships, the list can go on forever, filled with problems that seem SO important, SO detrimental, yet if something like what Emily went through happened, we'd give pretty much ANYTHING to get those "detrimental" problems back.
