I recently graduated from a nail technician program and found that in most cases polygel actually can be soaked off and is classified as a soft gel, which makes sense because both acrylic and gel can be soaked off and polygel is just a mixture of the two, as you said. It is worth noting that you should file it to where you only have a thin layer left on the nail before soaking for the best results.

Thank you so much!! I personally love beetles hard gel in a bottle (have been trying to find one in a container that works well for my nails too but I’ve found some have lifting that my bottled hard gel doesn’t) and I’ll definitely be looking into a hard acrylic gel for my cracks and my one WAYY over filed side nail 😅✨ Edit- NOT beetles, I use Modelones ✨✨

Makarrt polygel is also really good for repairing cracks. I use it to strengthen my natural nails when they get really long since I get better control around the cuticle area and building the apex. I like it more than hard gel since some poly gels can soak off while hard gel can’t. My nails have gotten so long and I realized that I should have switched to polygel or a hard gel a while ago because my nails are getting a bit too flexible despite having BIAB and 2 of them cracked. Fortunately my nails didn’t snap off bc of BIAB on but it’s a sign that BIAB isn’t strong enough anymore.

I have tried rubber base and builder in a bottle type of gel but nothing really stays on my nails. Rubber bases tend to last for about 5-7 days hut BIAB pops off after 2 days, almost like a peel off base. I am doing all the prepping steps - cleaning the cuticles, buffing the nail, dehydrator, primer and then gel being careful not to flood the cuticle era. Any advice?

I'm new to being a nail girly but when I was having these issues, I added in a gelish pH bonder before I put acid-free primer. I also found if I do the rubber base too thinly, it would peel more easily. Also just making sure I was sealing my edges, which is a little difficult for me because I find that my gelish rubber foundation gel is much runnier than regular BIAB. I'm an EMT and pull patients up to 400lbs and so far haven't had a nail break or chip at work since I made these changes.

I've had the same problem, covering the "rim" of the nailtip has really helped me+removing any dust on, around and under the nail before the dehydration etc. Also make sure you're using quality stuff (just adding that bc when I started doing my own bails I bought gel polish and polygel from a reputable website but it still turned out to be complete trash sadly).

Question! If you were on a budget just starting out, and had to choose a good base set of polishes, what color/type would you get? Of course a black, white, and nude. But keeping flexibility in mind when it comes to nail art and design, what are the colors you reach for the most? Are thry opaque colors, milky colors, or jelly colors? Im just super conflicted on what to buy bc i want to give myself a decent range of nail art options with a smaller budget.

flexible nails require a flexible overlay to prevent lifting. soak off builder. lightly practice the file off process during fills. by the time your nails are long enough to require a more structured overlay -you should be pretty good to go on filing off enhancements. utilizing a nude base gel is also helpful -as you will know when you have gone through your color and you are close to natural nail.

Nail oils, vitamins (biotin), keeping a layer of clear coat on them, and they work for a while but then they go back to being flimsy and splitting. I really don't know what to do A coat of normal polish (with a base coat and clear top coat) only ends up lasting for a day. Then it chips or starts to peel off my nail

Can you use base gel and/or b in a bottle gel for extensions as well?
@cmayo5659
Ай бұрын
Base gel is exactly what it says, for the base. It goes under the gel to create a surface that the gel will then stick to. Polygel is acrylic plus gel, it's considered a hard gel. Acrylic is HARD. The longer the nail the more support the nail needs.
@cmayo5659
Ай бұрын
Think about this, gel polish is soft, it's flexible. You don't want to use a gel polish to build out extensions, it will bend. The nail underneath may crack 3/4 of the way down the nail bed. You need structure. Build in a bottle is not for extensions either.
@nailmartusa
Ай бұрын
Builder in a bottle can be used for very minimal free edge extension. Not for medium or long extensions

is it possible to fully cure any of these products with only the tiny UV lamps (the ones used for flash curing) or is it important that everything is cured in a big lamp?
@achromaphile

The answer is NO. The tiny UV flash lights won't be enough to fully cure them, you need a lamp that is at least 36W in order to fully cure any gel product!
@bluewatersprite8738
Ай бұрын
@@achromaphile I was told it isn't the wattage that matters but wavelength?
@achromaphile
Ай бұрын
@@bluewatersprite8738 The wattage is the power of the lamp, a low wattage means it's not going to be powerful enough to fully cure. The wavelength matters to cater towards a wider variety of gels. For example some gels cure just right under 365nm, but other gels need different wavelengths. That's why the UV lamps usually are emitting wavelengths between 365nm-405nm so that it can cure most gels without a problem. 😉

@@nailmartusa did you go to school? Are you certified? Cause it matters. It matters a whole lot. Nail techs are supposed to have their license posted, so customers know they are certified. Your knowledge is from years of experience? That doesn't mean the information you share is correct. The information given to run your e-file at top speed comes to mind - that's HORRIBLE advice for the reasons I stated on that video. The videos pop up in my feed. Sorry it bothers so many people that I question what you're saying. Putting out wrong or bad information is harmful. I.E. e-file use at top speed. I work mainly with acrylic for enhancements. I use gel, just not all these different types of gel. I don't claim to be an expert in gels so I asked questions. I can say I have never heard anyone in any classes I have taken talk about semi hard gel. Or classify gels as this channel does. No reason to make it so difficult when it's not. So what if I question her information? I don't use builder in a bottle, no reason to use that.. I use fiber gel, sold by young nails. Fiber gel is a soft gel, great for overlay and those growing out their nails. I use professional products made by professionals and for use in salon. Rather than complain you should thank me. I generated engagement on this channel. And maybe just maybe my comments have caused viewers to question what they see here and then seek answers. I didn't bash the channel, I asked questions. Questions that were not answered. Which tells me a lot. Is this person an educated and certified nail tech? Is she really in the US? Or is that just the name of the channel? If the information you're giving is valid you should be able to site where you got the information. I didn't say it's wrong information, I said I have not heard of semi hard gel. I have not heard gel categorized in the way this channel classifies gel products. It's not that complicated or that deep. 🤷♀️ Don't like what said? Just keep moving.
