Calling out a supreme court justice who flies a flag upside down in support of a presidential candidate, removing any illusion of impartiality is against the rule of law? It's more about expecting the highest court in the land to follow the same ethics rules that every other judge is bound to. The hypocrisy comes from people who excuse away all wrongdoing of a presidential candidate to because they like him, despite mountains of evidence against him. Those who ignore his criminality, yet pretend to still have morals and principles. That's the true TDS sycophants who are deluded into believing his lies

Yes, the burden of proof is on the prosecution. The "burden" of disproving the prosecution's witnesses is on the defense. They also had every right to call those very same witnesses that the prosecution did not call to the witness stand. The defense is no prohibited from calling anyone. They don't even have to call anyone related to the case. They could have called Count Chocula if they so desired. The prosecution did not call for example; Alan Wieselburg. Why? They did not need him. Admittingly stating "he would not have helped their case". The defense could have called Wieselburg. They did not. All bullcrap from trump as usual

This entire hour of The Last Word was great. As an attorney, I think I've now watched it three times. It does such a great job of taking us inside the courtroom (where neither audio recorders nor cameras were allowed). Thank you for your wise production/writing choices to: (a) read "Count [1, 2, 3, ....34] __- What say you? GUILTY" 34 times (super effective); (b) Lawrence's well written lead up on how peoples' emotions & lives are forever affected by a criminal verdict; (c) Weissmann's eloquent comparison of the 12 ordinary Americans who took and upheld their oaths...while just outside the courtroom, there were Trump toadies completely abandoning their solemn oaths, as well as all their integrity and all truths (just to cling to power); (4) Lisa's & Adam's insights as to defense counsel Todd Blanche's "admissions" on CNN and his awkward distortions of how our adversarial system of justice works. (Great that these were fact-checked....) This is an excellent "teaching" piece--the whole thing. It's the first page of an important part of our American history...and I really hope it will be saved, widely distributed, and used in our schools. ((Is it just me, or does it seem that elementary & high schools--both public & private--did a better job in the couple decades following World War II of educating kids about CIVICS than they do today--with all the latter's emphases on STEM courses?? I'm shocked at the seeming level of public misunderstanding of how our adversarial system of justice is SUPPOSED to work--if the electorate does not understand this, they fall victim to Trump's and his toadies' lies...) Anyway--thanks to MSNBC for hiring these people...and keeping them on the air...and giving them enough air time. What MSNBC is doing is so critical to the survival of our Democracy--absolutely critical. Down through the ages, and as we speak, there are people who have fought and died, and are today fighting and dying, just to have civil rights and things like a truly INDEPENDENT JUDICIARY (not strong-man controlled court outcomes)...and adherence to the Rule of Law (not rule of a dictator) and a rights of the accused to be tried by their peers--by a CITIZEN-JURY pool, fairly selected. (Japan only recently adopted juries...and many countries do not have this. Conviction rate in many Asian & Middle East countries is over 97 percent.) We are in danger of losing these critical institutions--an independent judiciary, and adherence to the Rule of Law)! So, here we have a major political party, (including the GOP Speaker of US House of Reps) doing everything in its (and his) power to tear down, smear, and destroy trust in this sacred, hard-fought system of justice by calling this fair trial "rigged" and the whole prosecution of Mr. Trump a "witch hunt." Far, far from the truth. Most accused defendants in most countries would LOVE to have all the rights that a defendant like Mr. Trump had under the US Constitution and the Rules of Evidence adopted & applied in US states & federal courts. The GOP reaction to the first Trump trial verdict is truly beyond reprehensible. I'm with Andrew Weissmann; I find the GOP reaction terrifying. Yet I am confident of this: History will judge the complicit (and not kindly).

Im so happy for Trump and his attorneys having a lighthearted moment before the guilty verdicts. Its the last time they will ever laugh together. EVER.

I would have paid a lot of money to see the donald's face when he first heard "guilty."

It was much more important to protect the anonymity of the juror since there are many murderers among MAGATS

Did the clerk really ask that question "how say you to count n" where n =1...34? Must have been super painful for DJT when the response "guilty" was repeated 34 times. Justice has come knocking on Donald's door.

Trump has the short term memory of a goldfish - so, each time he heard the word it was like the first time.

I've watched this excellent segment over and over again, through the course of the day. Thanks to the jury's decision, Mr O'Donnell could present such a brilliant piece of journalistic reporting.
