Hey Megan! I was watching your video and it made me think about years ago when I was living in Atlanta talking to people that moved from Cali there. It’s not a Dallas problem so much as there is no other place in the United States like Cali. Even if you were in Florida with the beaches, you won’t have the beautiful hill and mountains. Florida is flatter than Texas but has beaches. Then you have to deal with the threat of hurricanes. I love the vibe and beauty of Cali. Me and my wife actually could afford to live there. The problem is what you get for the money. You really see the difference in real estate! In Cali you will need at least around 800k to get a decent home and that may be 1800 sf. That same home in a really nice neighborhood with top rank schools will net you 4000 square feet! I choose to just take the 2.5 hour flight to LA for fun! If you give it time, I guarantee you will do the same!

Exactly... When I see the Dallas/Ft. Worth Area as real estate developer, I see LAND... So, opportunity to catch the upswing of a growing & changing metropolitan area and all the other cities in Texas.. . So, it really depends on the lens, every city has the same few things, but every place has a different vibe, different, but similar problems as well.. But I think opportunity makes me deal with things much easier... Set the vision right first and move to a place that compliments the purpose.. I think that's what alot of people forget to do...

Dallas used to be an engineering town back in the 1950s and 1960s. Some important inventions were invented in Richardson and Irving, and the patents created wealth and jobs. I moved from Los Angeles to Houston. People think Houstonians are respectful. You’ll learn really fast that they have the worst attitudes. People drive really bad, this is a at will state, which means they gaslight you at work. The food is trash. But there’s food everywhere, you’ll be so bored you’ll just eat. The men are crazy, stalkers so be careful if you’re single.

In Houston it is true about the heat, humidity, and bugs. Summers are brutal in Houston. If you live in a house you don't have to have bugs. Apartment bugs can also depend on your neighbors. When you first move in your apartment: 1. De-fog, 2. Put out roach motels, 3. Put out boric acid. That way, if there was a bug problem before your arrival, you can get it in check before you move in.

Not sure if you moved yet, but I lived in Houston 3yrs and currently live in Dallas. I wouldn’t recommend living within the city as crime has really skyrocketed. Some areas I would recommend is Katy( best school district I also lived in this area),Sugarland, Cypress this is where you will find alot of local blacks, also Pearland is nice, and Kingwood. If you don’t mind living further out Spring and the Woodlands. Please be aware Houston has a really bad roach problem and they don’t discriminate and the roaches are huge and fly. Please also be aware of flooding, anywhere you live I would read the reviews and see if it says anything about flooding. Also road rage is really bad in Houston, please be cautious when driving. Also I would get a gun if you don’t already have one.
