@@zenzfpv6304thats fair! I paid less for my 70mm Vulcan from Freewing and it flies amazing. Has retracts, flaps, and rudder

There is no way in hell I am shelling out $250 for a foam plane. It's gear only to me put into plane shaped packing material. Yours is already starting to look ratty with the paint falling away from the wing tip.

When FW or E-flite come out with a dual 64mm or 70mm SR-71 that can takeoff from grass, I will buy it and fly it. I did fly my own scratch-built dual 70mm EDF SR-71 twice, but my skills were not good enough to make it light enough to takeoff from grass routinely. Come on FW/E-flite - build one we can fly off grass!

@@saucerguy3 lmao so you'd pay 250 for a wood one that flies like shit because it's too heavy? or a fiberglass one that is even heavier? the fact that they can make such a scale looking model that is light enough to fly well, has TWIN fans, AND has a full onboard flight computer is nothing short of an epic deal for only 250....

Just maidened mine, the model is undeniably an incredible achievement, never seen such a beautiful well thought out scale model, however it is an absolute DOG 😂 it wallows around with the gyro desperately trying to stop it from going belly up, the stall nearly went into a flat spin. It is just too underpowered for what it is and not much fun to fly, needs a few hundred Watts more and it would be incredible! I guess the V2 will be what this model could be! Still love it though! Who would have imagined 20 years ago we'd have a model like this!

lol are you on 3s? it flies fine on 4s. i dont understand why so many people treat EDFs like RC cars. when you watch the REAL blackbird do a low pass, its only doing a few hundred knots, which is the scale speed of this model in a cruise... these EDFs all look absolutely stupid in constant wide open throttle doing low passes flying at a scale speed that you'd NEVER see the real one do.

If you dip the nose-cone in boiling (or really really hot tap) water, the pitot tube straightens itself out and stays straight. The SR-71 was designed to fly stable at supersonic speeds, not subsonic. Scaling it down is definitely going to cause issues. Ya, this model is challenging to fly, but that is what makes it so much fun! I will never take my cones off! I love that no one else at my field is able to fly this plane, lol!!!

I was excited to see the announcement of the SR-71, however, it needed to be 2x larger with dual 64mm on 6s.

I have about a dozen flights on mine and around the 5th flight I just started removing the cones. They just pull out and def increase the speed of the model. Helps in turns as well with the weight savings

Great review. I'm on the fence on this aircraft. I LOVE the look but am worried that there are probably more "fun" planes available for the same money. But it looks so cool! 😎

Great presentation and thanks. I'd love to have one, but my club field is grass. Maybe Freewing will come out with a dual 64mm EDF version of a Blackbird like they did with the F-14? That would be sweet!

Not my favorite flying EDF. Both this and the 40mm F-14 were kind of a let down for me. I’m in Colorado. So, I pretty much can only take off from the runway, and it takes a longer roll to finally get off the ground. Again, both Eflite 40mm EDFs need a paved runway and that was a pretty big downer for me not being able to hand launch it. Just not enough power at my altitude. Yes, this bird is a challenge every flight and I find consistent breeze to flight into for landing and takeoff is helpful.
