At 0:28, you see that house on top of the hill? That was my grandparent’s home when I was a kid. Such fond memories there. My grandfather was the Mayor of Helen from 1974-1978 and was one of three Helen businessmen who coordinated the transformation of Helen into the Alpine Village that it is today. Thanks for the feature!

It looks like restaurants across the country are putting a premium on their offerings. It was never like this pre Covid. Glad I can cook. But luv your videos. I can live through you guys.

Definitely, everything here was a lot more expensive than we were expecting! Part of the reason we started our channel was to help us justify the cost of going out. Seems like restaurant prices these days are out of control

Idk bout cordon blue for schnitzel my family uses steak or pork but Jager schnitzel with smothered in gravy mushrooms with schpetla on the side is a great dish to try at a real German restaurant if you never had one made for you. Look forward to seeing if Helen ga makes THEM as well

Same! As long as people don't go with the expectation that it's authentic, there's something charming about how cheesy it is

Helen is definitely cheesy. Avoid October, when Helen becomes a total zoo.

Living in nearby Dahlonega, I avoid downtown Helen like the plague, but there are a lot of things to do outside Helen. Unicoi State Park, Anna Ruby Falls, the Hardman Farm, and lots of hiking trails.

The food is in no way German in most places and usually mediocre at best. Your best bet when it comes to food is to stick with chocolates and fudge. That’s been my experience having lived in North Ga for 27 years and frequently visiting Helen.

That place was disgusting, boring, and charmless. The people were rude and most employees looked like they were on meth. There is LITERALLY NOTHING to do there and nothing unique except the kitschy architecture of some buildings. Every hotel is a motel and they’re all gross. The restaurants are also pretty gross. I understand that whoever reads this might be from a more boring place, but don’t waste your money going to Helen, GA. I heard Elijay is actually nice and not far from Helen.

What the hell are you talking about, elijay has absolutely nothing to do besides apple orchards and vinyards, pretty damn boring if you ask me. Nothing makes it unique.
