When the soldier in field dress uniform attempted to get the crowds to fall back behind the second white line for the changing of the horse guards, for their own safety by the way, nobody listened to her. It has nothing to do with 'manners' or the fact that the guard was a woman... It's just that everything is so haphazard, and poorly organized. One day they'll have one of the guards march over to souvenir stand (much further up from where this guard is), and yell repeated at everyone to get behind the second white line. Other times, the police on duty will do it. Kind of like in this video, but they would not have waited to the last minute...

It was badly organised by the guard - it's up to them if they have one in "field dress uniform" (in this case fancy dress, adding a No2 dress hat) opening and closing gates and telling people what to do or three. In this case they opted for one, a small female with a quiet voice, with inevitable results. Not "disrespect" but just bad organisation and a lack of supervision.

I’m sure not everyone who visits can read what the sign says or understand what the guards yell at them. I guess just the volume of their commands is understood.

There is no excuse, nearly every single person you see is holding a cell phone, or the person(s) with them is holding one. Most cell phones are capable of taking pictures and there are applications that can "read and translate" the signs. Also, last I knew, in just about any country, as long as you do not interfere with a current law enforcement issue, or interrupt a conversation they are having with someone, you can always ask a police officer. You could always type the words of the sign onto your cell phone online translator. If you can Google or Yahoo! or what ever your search engine is, just look up [translator from {Name of Language of Country You are visiting} translate to (Name of YOUR LANGUAGE)

@@lauriemapplebeck1286 Every year the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment (HCMR, the 'normal' guard at Horseguards) have a month at 'summer camp', while the King's Troop RHA take over; the King's Troop only do ceremonial duties - displays, musical rides, gun salutes, funerals, etc. As you appear to be Canadian, you may be interested to know that your RCMP have also done duties at Horseguards, twice - first in 1936, then again in 2012 for the Diamond Jubilee, using "borrowed" Household Cavalry horses.

@kevanwebb6086
Ай бұрын
Well winter is pretty obvious? But these Gunners are all members of Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery. The uniform they wear was in use up until the First World War on a regular basis, also with most line Cavalry regiments, (now Armoured regiments, tanks and the like). You will indeed see a variety of different colours to facings, belts, pouches etc. My regiment, the 14/20th Kings Hussars had a primrose yellow facing and now wear ‘pink’ or cherry red trousers since amalgamating with the Royal Hussars! This is representative of a battle honour awarded quite a few years ago… worth checking out the history?
