Boredom is a desire for abstract excitement or stimulation that occurs between exciting and stimulating events. The experience we crave is not necessarily specific, for excitement for a particular thing can alleviate boredom in and of itself. Instead, we are simply hoping for something to break the monotony that we find ourselves in.
