Fun fact: Temple of Doom pretty much helped create the PG-13 rating, it hadn’t existed before then. Thats why the first two movies were PG, and every one after are PG-13.

How I would rank them: 1. Last Crusade 2. Raiders 3. Dial of Destiny 4. Temple of Doom 5. Crystal Skull I would say Last Crusade is one of my fav route movies period. Raiders also can be ranked as a cinematic masterpiece. Dial is definitely not as good as the originals but I still highly enjoyed the movie. The villain being a German scientist under Operation Paperclip made sense for the time era and I thought the time travel was done well. If you don’t mind the AI faced Indy the opening set during the War is an exciting set piece that captures some of the feeling of the original movies. Temple I’m mixed. It’s still an enjoyable movie with great moments and character scenes but don’t like the darker tone this movie takes. And the portrayal of India.. let’s just mention how the movie was banned from being filmed in India so was done so in Sri Lanka. Much of Crystal Skull seems too generic that it could be Dora the Explorer or something. The Soviets and space artefacts make sense as plot points for the movie but I feel this movie lacks the charm, creativity and excitement of Crusade or Raiders. Indy and Marion finally settling down together and getting married was a good ending at least. (Well until Dial) I played both Lego Indiana Jones games a lot back in the day on the Wii and watched the movies many times over, hope you enjoyed watching them for the first time.

I grew up with all the original movies in the 80's. I didn't watch the dial of destiny bc i heard the reviews and had no interest, so i cant rank it. 😆 Mine would be: 1. Temple of doom (because of its darker tone) 2. Raiders of the lost arc. (Because of its lack of pretense) 3. The sean Connery one. (Which should be #1 where you put it, but fuck sean connery). 4. The new one with the aliens which did suck, but was watchable.

I don't think it's "a weird thing to admit" at all. Like, literally every person has certain supposed "essential" films, tv shows, books, music/records as well as certain foods, visited places etc .... that they never wanted to or got around to see, read, hear, ..... Our lifetime is very limited and because of that, all of us have to make choices about things like these. And obviously it's why we prioritize some things over others. (It's also why, by now, I disagree with the sheer idea of something being "must-see" or something like that)
