Think it was roughly the same in Australia, as I remember watching the top charts every Saturday morning and surprise, surprise this song was always on when they got to number 1. I think it also helped that they set the song against a lot of great scenes from the Robin Hood movie. I think that movie was good but watching it back I've just noticed that the American accents in the film completely detract from the time and place and it would have been good if Costner could have had a good voice coach or they'd found someone more appropriate for the lead role. People seemed to be less discerning in those days and they always needed big American names to sell tickets.

Bryan Adams is quite the underrated vocalist. Any singer knows he has some serious pipes. I love how you said what you said about having to be a good singer to pull that off, and then directly after that, you go into a song which I consider to be even more vocally challenging. 😂 Bryan Adams is the TRUTH.

FYI, the ending of that video ties into his other video "Run to you," (you just saw), 'Somebody" and "Heaven" where the same actress (assuming the same character) goes to see him live in concert after he's made it as a successful star. Apparently she's also in his video called "Reckless" from the same album which I've never seen. She's ALSO the beautiful woman in the Depeche Mode video "I Feel You" which I believe you've already reacted to.

I would not hesitate for a second to time travel back to the 80s and 90s. I know many feel that their childhood and youth years was something special and that I am only being nostalgic. But I think and know that many others that experienced the 80s and 90s will feel the same. I do not know why those 2 decades was so different than others. I wished all would have experience the same when growing up.

Bryan Adams himself was only 9 in the summer of 1969, so the idea of him playing guitar in a band, running wild through town, and hitting up with the neighbourhood girls is a bit eyebrow-raising to say the least. But '60s nostalgia was pretty big in the '80s... I'm guessing that they went with that lyric/title to plug into the trend a bit, and because it sounds good. It's a great song about nostalgia and the carefree days of youth generally. :)

You should listen to some of his duets too. With Tina Turner "It's only love", with Mel C "When you're gone", with Pavarotti "O solo mio", with Rod Stewart & Sting "All for love" and with Barbara Streisand "I finally found someone". He's also an amazing photographer. Took a portrait of the Queen (which is somewhat ironic considering the poor man still has to fight off rumors of dating Princess Diana). Also, if you noticed, the lady in the last two videos was the same lady. And, without getting into it too much, Bryan has confirmed that the title "Summer of '69" refers to exactly what people might think...and it's not a year! 😉 "Everything I do" not only holds the record for 16 weeks at number 1, he actually requested it to be removed from number 1.

Fun fact: 'Everything I Do' was first offered to Annie Lennox, Cher, and Kate Bush, who all rejected it because they thought it was too schmalzy. Then Bryan Adams got it who turned it into the biggest hit of 1991. Another song of his with a fake ending is 'Do I Have To Say The Word' (the full 6 minute version). Highly recommended!

Bryan’s first band was when he was 15, the reason for the juvenile behavior. I applaud him for the quit honest depiction of it all, he didn't make it anything more than it really was which is commendable. Bryan’s kind of talent has lessen as the years of the music scene has changed in my opinion for the worse. I liked your opinions thought they were spot on, only the sand didn't fly because the snow turned to rain which compacted the sand. ❤

The Prince of Thieves video for Everything I Do, I Do it For You was such a great video. However, I think Disney or someone owns it so Bryan Adams cannot post it on KZitem. When you said this song sounds familiar I had to laugh because if you ever been to a wedding, this song has been played. It is so iconic.

Wet wet wet's version of love is all around which was used for four weddings and a funeral did 11 weeks at No1 but the band decided everyone had had enough and took it off the shelves. Did you notice the same girl was in run to you and summer of 69? people wonder what the Avengers of my generation was, and I tell them: the song All for One by Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart, and Sting. You need to understand, the late 80s merged into the 90s through the power of the raspy-voiced-white-guy vocalists. Unfortunately they didn't get Michael Bolton, but still the coming together of the three raspy powerhouses for the sountrack to a shitty Robin Hood movie united the World. They would never allow anything that raspy nowadays, this generation couldn't handle the rasp.

What you have in the video is reverse in the release dates. But for my post, I will go from early years to current years. Part 1. Run to You and Summer of 69. Written by Jim Vallance and Bryan Adams. Produced by BA and Bob Clearmountain. Released in 1984. In 1984, Vancouver, Canada, Jim Vallance presented Run to You to Blue Oyster Cult. Their producer that year was the late Bruce Fairbairn. The band rejected it. Jim Vallance thought, "Not enough cowbell!" LoL The SNL segment about BOC was based on this! What SNL got wrong: they stated that Bruce Dickinson was the producer. He could not be: he is the lead singer of Iron Maiden and was with the band that year. Back to Run to You. BA decided to record it . The voice of BA is raspy, wet and partly raw. Part 2. Year 1991. Bryan Adams dissolved his partnership with Jim Vallance. The role of Bob Clearmountain was reduced to engineer, no longer the producer. Mutt Lange became both the co-writer and co-producer, fresh from working with Heart in 1990. Mutt Lange had his first international hits as producer for AC/DC with Highway to Hell in 1979. Mutt Lange got more hits when he worked with Boomtown Rats, Huey Lewis and the News, Loverboy, Foreigner, Thomas Dolby, Def Leppard, Billy Ocean and The Cars before Bryan Adams hired him. Everything I Do I Do It for You. Lyrics by Bryan Adams, Mutt Lange. Music by them and the late Michael Kamen. Produced by BA and Mutt Lange. Released in 1991. RIP Michael Kamen. The original music video has BA in the same forest where Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves was filmed. In summary, the music video is a combination of BA playing guitar and singing with his band and clips of the 1991 movie. Not available on YT due to copyright claim. Number 1 song of 1991. Earned 1 Grammy. BA won a number of Billboard awards and a special Juno. Please Forgive Me. Produced and written by BA and Mutt Lange. Released in 1993. The voice of BA is more rounded, dry. A bit of rasp. His range was extended higher as sung in the penultimate line in Everything I Do I Do It for You. Mutt Lange, who is a trained singer as well as a guitarist and bass guitarist, coached BA. They continued to work together until 2000. BA decided work with other writers and producers. This year, BA reunited with Mutt Lange. They wrote Only Happy When It Hurts. A music video is available.

@@PancakeMarshmallowDude You are welcome! Bryan Adams can be split into 2 eras. Part 1 is from about 1977 when he was the lead singer of Sweeney Todd until 1990. Part 2 is from 1991 when he wrote and produced with Mutt Lange to today. In between, BA, who was living in Metro Vancouver, had some conversations with Victoria born David Foster. They were related to singing and music. Eventually, BA would spend more time in London and less in Metro Vancouver when his partnership with Mutt Lange started.
