Lots of people talk about Robert DeNiro's wardrobe in this movie, but Sharon Stone's is INCREDIBLE. When he's describing how she operates as a hustler, every outfit is A+, especially that orange and white striped dress. Wow wow wow!

I love it when movies have narration. It allows them to give the movie more depth. I hope she reacts to the Irishman.
@noxteryn
Жыл бұрын
The narration style is not because of the director, it's because of the writer, Nicholas Pileggi. He's the one who interviewed all the surviving mobsters and wrote the books the movies are based on. The reason there's so much narration is because most of the content is quotes from the mobsters.

First off, I like you and your reactions. I’m am also a mob enthusiast and have read extensively about the history. You mentioned the old lady being Tommy’s mom in Goodfellas. Both people in that scene are Scorsese’s parents. The dad was also in Goodfella’s. He was the guy thinly slicing the garlic with a razor blade in prison. They are both in a lot of his movies. I am also originally from Indiana, Richmond.
@robinjeronimus4836

Iam sorry but the guy in goodfellas who indeed cut the garlic with a razor his real name is Paul Sorvino and he didnt had a role in the movie Casino. and he is not the father of Scorsese the guy you mean in the film scene indeeds looks like Paul Sorvino tho. You say that you are a mob enthusiast i have a question for you. Do you think when the mobsters of the Vario crew where put behind bars that prison was like a hotel for them ?
@Salguine
2 жыл бұрын
That's not Charles Scorsese in "Casino"; he wasn't in "Casino." And in "Goodfellas," Paulie was slicing the garlic; Charles Scorsese was Vinnie, who was in charge of the tomato sauce. He's the one who says "Good, but you gotta have the pork. That's the flavor." Good lord, I went to college in Richmond, Indiana.

This is yet another film that a connected guy was involved with, Frank Cullotta who was a part of the Chicago outfit and was also a part of the hole in the wall gang served as a technical consultant. Sadly he passed away last year from complications from COVID.

I absolutely love this movie for these reasons. 1. A+ Actors. Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, Sharon Stone, James Woods, Don Rickles, Frank Vincent and others. 2. I love mob movies that are based on a true story. 3. I think if someone is gonna make a mob movie. Then it definitely needs to be made right. What I mean is the big deal activities have to be in the movie. What I have researched along with my 20+ years of studying this profession. Casino is highly accurate on what happened in those days...

I love the long tracking shots done in these movies, it really adds to the immersion, after a while you feel like everything happening in each scene is actually happening. The amount of planning and rehearsals they would have had to of done to perfect these shots must of been staggering.

Joe Pesci role in this movie actually based on real las vegas mobster named ''Anthony Spilotro'' Alot of things in this movie are based on real events just like goodfelles. In goodfellas Joe played a charcter name Tommy in fact that name was authentic because the real mob guy's name was Tommy desimone. And those guys in reality were as crazy maybe even more then Jou Pesci played them. Jou Pesci by the we is a real good mob actor thats because he greew up in a mob neighborhood.

The single camera, long shot, no dialogue, tilted cams , was a style invented by Hitchcock. Scorcese does it pretty well, but the modern master is Brian DePalma. Checkout the CIA break in scene in the first, mission impossible. And 2 other great movies, Body Double, and the first true Hannibal Lector movie, dressed to Kill.

It’s been mentioned but History Buffs did a video on true story of this film and one thing that stood out was how Rosenthal was actually a really bad husband, who was known to be possessive, violent and cheat on his wife. He also was most likely a government informant. Do whatever you want with this information.

I think the Mythbusters episode used WAY too much dynamite to try to disprove this myth. Dynamite doesn't grow on trees. You can find pictures of the real car online (post explosion). Based on the damage, it looks like the dynamite (or whatever was used) was in the trunk or possibly a wheel well.

Ace I think was an associate to the mob so he wasn’t really in the mob he just had mob ties and worked for them but Nicky was in the mob and he was part of it and nicks job was to watch and protect ace from other gangster family’s from coming in and taking over or killing ace…so Nicky saying it was only possible for ace to be where he was makes sense since ace would’ve probably been taken out or been approached by other gangster family’s to give them a cut of the casino…so Nicky made all that possible under the orders of the higher ups and Ace can’t go over Nickys head because he’s under him…but ace has full control at the casino and all that which made this power struggle where Nicky couldn’t interfere with the “golden goose” and his work which probably pissed him off lol

I feel the problem with Ginger is that she is based on a woman who did have this very messy relationship with the man that Ace Rothstein is based on, but this real guy, Lefty Rosenthal, was a cheater, a petty tyrant and regularly beat her up. In the movie all of that is left out and Ace Rothstein is a mostly decent guy, while her reaction to him remains unchanged. I do like this movie but I do feel this makes her a quite incomprehensible character... Having said that Sharon Stone's acting was top notch.

What is it with reactors being unable to record when they're _not_ hungry? Like, is it _that_ difficult to arrange? Are some ppl just constantly hungry, or unable to resist an urge for a bit? Am I just built different? Also, if you must take a meal break, is it really not possible to eat off camera and resume recording afterwards? It usually doesn't take me more than a few mins to eat a meal when I'm alone. Again, am I the weird one?
